Position Description

GENERAL FUNCTION

Responsibilities include but are not limited to: classroom and laboratory instruction, examination preparation and grading and preparing students for a rewarding career in Machinist Technology.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Demonstrates mastery of machine shop safety, measuring tools, lathes, drilling machines, saws, milling machines, bench grinders, and layout instruments.
  • Assists students with the setup and operation of machine tools including the selection and use of work holding devices, speeds, feeds, cutting tools, and coolants.
  • Assess students in order to determine if they are able to safely perform the basic operations of measuring, layout, drilling, sawing, turning, and milling.
  • Ensures that all necessary documentation is kept current and delivered in a timely manner.
  • Willingness to update or change material/outlines as needed based on adult learning styles and/or industry needs.
  • Ability to understand and interpret blueprints and geometric tolerances.

 

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

 

  • Degree or Certification in Machine Technology from an accredited institution or five years of direct work experience or ten years of direct work experience.

MAXIMUM REQUIREMENT:

  • Able to teach night or day or Saturday classes with advance notice
