Minimum Qualifications

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

Ability to read and follow blueprints, wiring diagrams, and schematics. Ability to follow written and oral instructions. Knowledge of building construction and maintenance techniques and procedures. Demonstrated dependability by work performance and attendance. Ability to climb ladders, operate necessary equipment, moderate lifting, and standing for extended periods of time. Motivated to work as a part of a team to maintain the facilities.

Minimum Education and Experience:

Two years work experience in plumbing, electrical, HVAC, and general building and equipment maintenance. High school diploma or equivalent. Must possess a valid NC driver's license with acceptable driving record.

Preferred Qualifications

Plumbing, electrical, and/or HVAC license preferred (or willingness and means to obtain one of these licenses). 

Position Description

General Description:  The Maintenance Technician, under the authority of the Director of Facility Services, is responsible for performing skilled and routine tasks in the repair and maintenance of campus and satellite buildings and equipment.

Duties and Responsibilities of the Position:

  1. Perform general building and equipment repairs. Possess adequate troubleshooting skills.
  2. Repair, install, and replace plumbing fixtures.
  3. Assist with HVAC repairs.
  4. Perform preventive maintenance service and inspections to facilities equipment.
  5. Basic carpentry and painting.
  6. Other duties. (Willingness to accept and fulfill additional assignments.)
