Minimum Qualifications

High School diploma and/or G.E.D. Must have a valid NC driver’s license.

Preferred Qualifications

An AAS or AS degree in a related area is preferred.

Position Description

This is a entry level position in the Facilities Department. The Maintenance Technician I works under the immediate supervision of the Director of Facilities and may be assigned tasks in any or all of the aspects of facilities maintenance.
*This position works Tuesday thru Saturday*

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  1. Works either independently or with technicians, contractors, or others in performing miscellaneous building repairs and/or renovations;
  2. Operates and maintains equipment on a regular basis moving supplies and equipment, landscaping. mowing. snow removal or other duties as assigned; equipment may include tractors, mowers, skid steer loaders, trucks, snow plows, forklifts, lifts, stump grinders and others;
  3. Performs and completes work orders as assigned; ensures highest levels of customer service;
  4. Responds to after-hours duties and emergencies such as snow removal, events, and other activities outside of normal work hours;
  5. Assists with the periodic inspection of buildings; performs preventive maintenance procedures and other duties as assigned;
  6. Answers complaints; keeps records and submits reports of work completed and In progress;
  7. Participates In assigned tasks and accepts other duties as needed or as assigned;
  8. Participate in college activities such as Emergency Response activity, safety and safety training;
  9. Ensure compliance with any and all regulations including, but not limited to, the use of personal protection, building codes, emergency egress codes, and OSHA standards;
  10. Successfully completes training for new employees and other maintenance personnel;
  11. Subject to emergency call-in for critical system repairs, snow/ice removal or other emergency duty.
  12. Checking schedules in order to support Saturday events and unlocking necessary buildings.
  13. Maintain a clean and safe work area.
