Minimum Qualifications
Education: High school diploma or equivalency.
Knowledge and Skills: Two to four years of experience in the performance of the full range of journey level tasks associated with two or more highly complex mechanical or building trades, or an equivalent combination of training and experience, knowledge of local, state, and national codes pertaining to assigned trades and ability to perform the trades at journey level.
Physical Demands: The employee is regularly required to use power tools and hand tools. The employee frequently is required to walk, stand, climb ladders, and crawl in small, confined spaces. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and work in elevated locations up to 50 feet. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, color vision and ability to focus.. The employee is exposed to outside weather conditions.
Licensing Requirement: Valid North Carolina driver’s license, fork lift operation; personal lift equipment

Position Description
Under the supervision and direction of the Facilities Manager routinely performs emergency duty, specialized and routine repairs and maintenance of College facilities, equipment and grounds.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities
- Participates in all operations and facilities functions as directed.
- Must be able to work closely in conjunction with the Facilities Manager, and other members of the departments staff.
- Possess present knowledge of blue print reading, standard concepts, practices, codes and procedures within the construction field.
- Performs all types of preventative maintenance and repairs to facilities and equipment.
- Responds to emergencies during off-duty hours and as needed.
- Follow through to completion of work orders.
- Attend departmental and college meetings.
- Responsible for periodic reports, inspections, inventory, and time sheet.
- Possess capable computer, communication, and writing skills
- Performs storm preparedness. Participates in clean up, snow and ice removal.
- Assists with set-up and cleanup of College events.
The employee is exposed to outside weather conditions. Regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts and occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles, risk of shock and or vibration, and occasionally, loud noises. Will require personal protective equipment at times. Some evening work may be required.
