Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in education, counseling, psychology or related field from an accredited institution of higher learning recognized by the US Department of Education with four years’ experience providing instruction, coaching and/or counseling to adult learners in a higher education setting.
Preferred Qualifications
An equivalent combination of education and/or experience from which comparable knowledge, skills, and abilities have been achieved.
Extensive knowledge of program implementation and accountability
Experience and commitment to the advancement of socially, economically, and educationally disadvantaged populations
Position Description
Announcement Summary
The Male Mentoring Coordinator is a member of the Academic Support Team and is responsible for planing, organizing, and directing the development relating to success of a campus-wide male mentoring program, supervise support personnel including peer mentor; work one-on-one with program participants and serve as their primary point-of-contact for all personal, academic, and social development programs and services that support student performance, progress, development, and success. The Male Mentoring Coordinator will coordinate the development, planning, implementation of goals and objectives related to male mentoring, and equity initiatives that encompasses all components of a comprehensive college-wide program. Qualified candidates will possess excellent computer skills, demonstrate evidence of flexible work experiences and willingness to change; open-mindedness, fairness and the ability to see multiple perspectives; a willingness to take risks, and willingness to accept responsibility for professional and personal growth.
Duties
Essential Duties- Duties may include, but are not limited to, the following:
Function as a team member within the Academic Support Division.
Establish goals, objectives, and a mission statement for the program.
Provide leadership in the development of initiatives relating to the success of underrepresented students at the College.
Coordinate and organize activities and resources for minority male students with students, staff, faculty, department chairs, program coordinators, and deans.
Organize professional learning activities and collaborate with Fayetteville Technical Community College’s Success Coaches and other related faculty/staff.
Participate in the development, planning, implementation of goals and objectives related to male mentoring, and equity initiatives that encompasses all components of a comprehensive college-wide program.
Recruit students to participate in the program.
Assist in training College faculty and staff in the concepts of minority male mentoring.
Collaborate with students, faculty, and administrators to develop and advance the mission and goals of the Minority Male Mentoring initiative.
Develop, coordinate, and facilitate a comprehensive educational and cultural program for the underrepresented male population at Fayetteville Technical Community College.
Manage the program’s budget and personnel.
Assist with the development and implementation of early intervention and retention programs.
Maintain regular contact with the MMSI Advisory Board
Develop and publish a Male Mentoring Program Handbook.
Develop and publish a Peer Mentor Handbook.
Collect data necessary for information and referral service.
Recruit mentor and peer mentoring coaches as well as support staff for the Male Mentoring Initiative.
Evaluate and implement technology available for the program.
Develop an implementation plan and promotional materials for the Male Mentoring Program.
Establish and maintain a fully functioning Male Mentoring Program.
Conduct customer service surveys to determine student satisfaction.
Coordinate and assist in the maintenance and security of equipment, as appropriate.
Maintain program compliance activities within SACS-COC criterion on a daily basis.
Perform related duties as assigned by the Associate Vice President for Academic Support
