Minimum Qualifications

Minimum Requirements 

 Bachelor’s degree

 Five years’ experience in an IT related discipline 

Three years' experience in a business continuity capacity

Preferred Qualifications

 Preferences

 MBA or master’s degree in IT related field

Lead role in managing a business continuity function

Advanced leadership training or certificate

PMP, ITIL Foundation, ISO and/or Six Sigma certification

Position Description

This position will collaborate with department leadership and college executive leadership to develop and implement strategies and detailed plans to ensure the continued operation of the college in the event of unexpected disruptions such as natural disasters, cyberattacks, or pandemics. These strategies will anticipate, address, and mitigate effects of various business interruptions. 

Responsibilities and Duties (*Essential Functions)

*Conducts college-wide risk assessments to determine the impact of major business disruptions including threats from weather-related and other natural disasters, cyberattacks, pandemics, criminal acts, and other unpredictable situations. 

*Identifies and implements recovery plans to ensure the college can continue to function at full, limited, or partial capacity in the event of damage or interruptions to operations. 

*Creates and facilitates regular training of the college’s business continuity plans to ensure all necessary resources and support systems are in place to quickly recover and resume normal operations.  

*Collaborates with ITS leadership and staff to develop, implement, and maintain best practices to protect and restore college software applications and data in the event of a disruption to IT-related services.  

  *Categorizes the criticality of software applications and IT infrastructure to the continued operations of the college’s core business functions.

*Coordinates with college departments to ensure business continuity plans/procedures are in place, accurate with current operating functions, and exercised regularly to promote a culture of preparedness. 

*Identify areas of improvement upon completion of business continuity exercises including enhancing business continuity plans, additional training of staff, and need for collaboration with other departments to align business objectives.

*Establish a governance steering committee for the development, implementation, ongoing maintenance, and exercising of the college’s business continuity plans.

Present to the college’s senior leadership results of business continuity exercises.

Design and implement an enterprise-wide awareness and education program to ensure staff understands and are prepared to carry out their responsibilities in the event of a major business disruption.

Collaborates with college health, safety, and security staffs along with local, state, and federal agencies to align the college’s emergency management plan with established best practices.

Advises other college departments in the development and management of departmental risk assessments and incident response plans.

Assists with college compliance for PCI, GLBA, NIST, CIS Controls and other related requirements.

Responds to emergency situations, as needed, during and after normal business hours to identify, asses, communicate, and mitigate operational issues.

Strong leadership skills and ability to work effectively with college leaders and IT engineering, operations, and support staff

Commitment for delivering superior customer service and team-oriented management style

Knowledge and understanding of current and developing strategic requirements of an institution of higher learning

Strong analytical, project management and team-oriented interpersonal skills

Proven knowledge of current trends and developments in information technology

Experience developing departmental policies, procedures, standards, and guidelines

Excellent skills in public speaking, presentation creation and delivery to a wide variety of audiences, including the College’s executive leadership

Ability to provide strategic guidance in the assessment and development of existing and/or proposed technology solutions

Skilled in organizing resources and establishing priorities
