  1. Master’s Degree with 18 graduate hours in teaching discipline from an accredited institution, required

  1. Community College teaching experience, preferred
  2. Experience teaching online, preferred
  3. Experience with academic advising, preferred
  4. Experience in a lab environment, preferred

Position Description

In support of the overall Learning College, the Math Instructor is responsible for providing a quality learning experience for all of the college’s students.  The instructor will teach math courses; provide high quality learning opportunities that assist students in meeting their educational goals and career aspirations; perform instructional-related duties and responsibilities in a timely manner and in accordance with the mission, policies, and procedures of the College; the instructor will also demonstrate a commitment to the Learning College concept, assessment, cooperative learning, and student advising.

 

Essential Responsibilities

 

  1. Develop course outlines and teaching materials based on the state curriculum standards and make changes to the curriculum as needed
  2. Facilitate the delivery of chemistry courses
  3. Deliver a teaching load that may include a combination of traditional, internet, hybrid, and Career and College Promise classes as well as corresponding labs as needed for the academic year
  4. Utilize active learning methods, technology, and a variety of instructional strategies designed to assist the learner in meeting the objectives of the course
  5. Demonstrate a commitment to the Learning College initiative
  6. Post and maintain office hours for student appointments
  7. Be supportive of students’ learning goals
  8. Be prompt and accurate in the recording and reporting of student data
  9. Maintain prompt communication with supervisor
  10. Serve as an academic advisor and assist in the registration process
  11. Participate in College committees and/or other college-wide activities as elected or assigned
  12. Serve as an ambassador in the community for Isothermal Community College
  13. Contribute to the division assessment by recording and reporting on work projects and provide rationale and feedback for operations in place
  14. Perform expectations of a faculty member as stated in the Full-Time Faculty Job Description
  15. Other duties as assigned
