Minimum Qualifications
- Must have a minimum of an Associate in Applied Science in Medical Assisting
- Hold and maintain a current, and in good standing, AAMA certification as a Certified Medical Assistant
- Minimum of 3 years of work experience as a Certified Medical Assistant in an physician’s office prior to employment with the college
- Possess and demonstrate the necessary knowledge in course content to teach the class for which they are assigned
- Ability to work with a diverse faculty, staff and student population
- Demonstrates strong interpersonal skills with students
Preferred Qualifications
3-5 years of teaching experience on the community college level
Working knowledge of Moodle, Internet, Office 365 & Web Advisor
Position Description
GENERAL FUNCTION:
Under limited supervision, medical assisting faulty will be responsible for student advising, competency based course evaluation/revision, classroom management, conducting student assessment and progress in achieving course requirements in both theory and practice, clinical practicum management, and developing syllabi adhering to Brunswick Community College, MAERB, and CAAHEP standards/ guidelines and policies/ procedures.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Adherence to accreditation requirements, communication with students, and updating curriculum materials as needed
- Teaches assigned Medical Assisting courses in the traditional setting as well as using distance technology
- Prepares lesson plans, course syllabi, assignments, handouts, and tests
- Responsible for gathering resources for classes, grading assignments, and completing various reports and forms related to classes and programs in a timely manner
- Maintains open communication with representatives of all types of healthcare administrations, active in professional organizations and activities and attends professional development events
- Maintains scheduled office hours
- Has a working knowledge of policies, procedures, and operations of Brunswick Community College
- Assists with special projects as assigned
- Assists with advising and counseling of students
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
