Education           

Minimum Medical Laboratory Technician with an Associate’s Degree

Knowledge and Skills    

Required: Minimum experience of two years as a generalist or in discipline being taught.

Licensing Requirement

  • Nationally recognized generalist certification, MLT(ASCP) or equivalent.
  • Valid NC Drivers License

Preferred Qualifications

Preferred: One-year experience in clinical laboratory science education preferred but not required.

Position Description

Statement of Primary Purpose

Provide online instruction, perform on-campus labs, and assist with local and distance clinical coordination duties. Primary course needs are as follows:

  • MLT 240 Special Clinical Microbiology: Total Contact Hours – 5 (2 hour online/3 hour lab/week – 16 week semester)
  • Clinical Coordination: up to 5 hours

Courses begin in August 2022

The 10 hour position may be divided among applicants if needed.

Classification

Curriculum faculty, part time up to 10 hours per week. Pay range $28-31/hour depending on experience.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities

  • Prepare and teach assigned courses in accordance with course outlines and published course schedule.
  • Maintain accurate records for each course taught.
  • Prepare, review, and update course outlines on a regular basis.
  • Assist in student recruitment, advising, and retention.
  • Participate in curriculum advisory committee meetings, if applicable.
  • Assist in selection and ordering of equipment, supplies, and textbooks.
  • Cooperate in scheduled student evaluations of instructor and course.
  • Submit all college reports in an accurate timely fashion.
  • Be responsible for professional development and maintaining professional competence.
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, faculty, staff, and others.
  • Maintain teaching course load in compliance with college and accreditation workload policy

Additional Duties and Responsibilities

Perform other duties as assigned.
