Minimum Qualifications

An Associate’s degree from a regionally accredited institution in a health-related field with a current national certification as a Medical Laboratory Technologist or Medical Laboratory Scientist is required. One year of work experience in a current full-time clinical laboratory is required. Must possess good communication skills, work well with adult learners, and be able to work flexible instructional hours as needed.

Preferred Qualifications

One year of work experience in a current full-time clinical laboratory is required; five years is preferred. A Bachelor’s degree in a health-related field is preferred. Bilingual in Spanish and English is preferred.

Position Description

Duties include providing effective instruction and evaluation of student achievement in specific content areas of medical laboratory technology curriculum including didactic instruction, supervision of hands-on labs, and coordination of clinical practicum courses. Content areas may include Urinalysis and Body Fluids, Hematology/Hemostasis, Immunohematology, Microbiology, and Clinical Chemistry. Other duties and responsibilities include developing curriculum, policy and procedures, evaluation, and assessment of program outcomes and performance objectives. The MLT Instructor/ Clinical Coordinator will assess program outcomes, provide employability skills, and promote career awareness. Duties include providing individualized and safety instructions and monitoring inventory of lab supplies and student clinical progress. The instructor will maintain records and follow state requirements for the program as well as perform all other duties assigned by the program director or supervisor.
