Minimum Qualifications
- A bachelor’s degree in Healthcare Administration, Healthcare Management, Medical Office Administration, or closely related discipline.\
- Two or more years of experience in a medical environment.
- Coursework or experience in medical insurance and billing.
- ]Effective communication, both oral and written.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Access, Excel, PowerPoint, and Word).
- Ability to teach specific courses included in the medical office and office administration programs.
- Willingness to teach in the day, evening, on Saturday, at unconventional times or via distance learning (i.e., Internet) as necessary.
- Ability to use technology (e.g. Internet) to facilitate student learning.
- Desire to participate in professional development activities, including those related to the use of critical thinking skills in instructional design and in student development.
- Commitment to the community college "open door" philosophy and the comprehensive community college concept.
- Excellent references from previous employers.
- Experience with distance learning and/or alternate instructional delivery systems.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master s degree in Healthcare Administration, Healthcare Management, or closely related discipline.
- Teaching experience at the community college or four-year college level.
- Medical coding certification through the American Academy of Professional Coders or American Health Information Management Association.
- Microsoft Office Specialist Certifications in Access, Excel, and Word.
- Experience with assessment of student learning outcomes.
Position Description
Since producing learning is the primary function of the college, it is the principal responsibility of each instructor to effectively and efficiently stimulate learning in every course. In addition, each faculty member should provide guidance to students through their role as an academic advisor and in more informal ways. Each faculty member is expected to participate in the governance of the college through committees and divisional meetings, through shared leadership within and across divisions, through personal recommendations to college administrators, and through participation in the Faculty Senate.

The successful candidate must begin work on September 13, 2019. Part-time classes and other supplemental work may be available for the fall, spring and summer semesters.
