OCCUPATIONAL SUMMARY

The primary role of the Medical Office Administration (MOA) Program Coordinator is to provide leadership and oversight for the online Medial Office Administration program.  This position is responsible for the management of staffing, scheduling, course content compliance, program advising and budgeting. The primary role of the coordinator is to manage faculty and students with a focus on academic excellence, student success, and encouraging lifelong learning by working collaboratively with stakeholders to support the mission of the College.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES (List the major functional elements of the position. Under each, describe the required duties, tasks and responsibilities of the work assigned.

Craven Community College is a comprehensive institution of higher learning, which places emphasis on excellence in course instruction. Coordinators and faculty members are expected to demonstrate and maintain competence in each of the following areas throughout their employment with the College.

 

Administrative Responsibilities

  • Recruiting, hiring, and evaluating adjunct allied health faculty teaching in the MOA program
  • Evaluating and revising (as appropriate) all processes and polices related to the MOA program, including but not limited to admissions, testing, attendance and conduct
  • Selecting and recommending instructional materials and equipment pursuant to established departmental budgets
  • Updating the Dean of Health Programs on progress, developments, challenges, and concerns of the MOA program
  • Build and maintain relationship with area health care providers, as a component of identifying and suggesting opportunities for the College to continuously enhance its service in healthcare
  • Guide the MOA adjunct faculty in maintaining regular contact with all students in their classes and in supporting the success of each student
  • Monitor student progression through the program and work with Student Advising to keep them on pace with their plan of study
  • Utilize and promote available tools to better support student engagement and success (i.e. Starfish, tutoring, library resources, counseling services, etc.)

 

Mastery of Subject Matter

  • Demonstrate a thorough and accurate knowledge of their field or discipline
  • Display an ability to interpret and evaluate the theories of their field or discipline, and connect the subject matter with related fields
  • Stay current in their subject matter through professional development, involvement in professional organizations, and attending professional meetings, conferences and workshops
  • Learn and use technology to enhance teaching and the educational experience when appropriate

 

Management of Faculty for the Evaluation of Student Learning

  • Establish meaningful student learning outcomes for courses/programs
  • Support the development and explanation of methods that fairly measure student progress toward student learning outcomes
  • Ensure student performance is evaluated fairly and consistently, and that work is returned to the student promptly to promote maximum learning
  • Maintain accurate records of student progress and that final grade rosters are submitted each semester according to established deadlines
  • Demonstrate sensitivity to student needs and circumstances

 

Support of College Policies and Procedures

  • Maintain confidentiality of student information
  • Exercise stewardship of College facilities and materials
  • Respond in a timely fashion to information requests from the College, division, and program administrators
  • Ensure all final grades are posted no later than the required date for each term as listed on the College academic calendar

 

On Campus Expectations

  • Schedule regular office hours in order to support both faculty and students
  • Reply to faculty and student questions within 48 hours on days that are worked. Be aware that due to the number of students accessing online content on the weekend, instructors are encouraged to respond on the weekend or adjust due dates so they do not fall on the weekend or on Mondays
  • Monitor attendance in each class, ensuring Web Advisor compliance for the census date, submitting appropriate notifications when a student is inactive in a class for a week and finalizing the attendance at the end of the applicable term
