Minimum Qualifications
Experience:
Two years of responsible secretarial and clerical experience involving public contact.
Education:
High School Graduate or equivalent to completion of the twelfth grade supplemented by specialized secretarial and clerical training; Associates Degree a plus.
Knowledge of:
Operations, services and activities of an assigned department.
Principles of business letter writing and basic report preparation.
Practices used in minute taking and preparation.
Modern office procedures, methods, and computer equipment.
Fundamental principles and procedures of record keeping and accounting.
English usage, spelling, grammar, and punctuation.
Ability to:
Understand the organization and operation of the MSC as necessary to assume assigned responsibilities.
Perform clerical work including maintenance of appropriate records and compiling information for reports.
Work independently in the absence of supervision.
Type at a speed necessary for successful job performance while operating a variety of office machines including a computer.
Respond to requests and inquiries from the general public.
Understand and carry out oral and written directions as well as able to communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing.
Establish and maintain effective working relationships with those contacted in the course of work.

Position Description
Perform a variety of duties involved in the operation of MSC II: including managing incoming calls; greeting and disseminating information to visitors; providing information to the public; and to perform a variety of clerical tasks relative to the assigned area of responsibility.
Applicant review to begin in 3 weeks. Position is open until filled.
Supervision Received and Exercised:
Receives general supervision from MSC Business Office Liaison/MSC Business Manager.
Exercises no supervision.
Examples of Duties:
Respond to inquiries in a courteous manner; provide information within the area of assignment.
Act as a receptionist for both MSCII as well as incubator clients as needed; convey telephone messages; respond to requests and inquiries; provide routine information and give directions; may assist with class registrations.
Assist as needed in the maintenance of regular or confidential files, charts, reports and other data; gather and compile the required information as necessary; sort and file documents and records according to standard policies and procedures; input various information into computer; download, print, sort, and file materials as appropriate.
Maintain a calendar of activities, meetings, and various events for MSC II as needed; Coordinate activities with other campus divisions or departments, the public and outside agencies.
May assist in preparation and proofing of a variety of documents including general correspondence, agendas, reports, contracts, course packets, and memoranda from rough draft; prepare minutes for various committees as assigned.
Operate a variety of office equipment including a switchboard, copiers and computers; input and retrieve data and text; Refer and transfer calls to appropriate department personnel; take and transmit messages for staff; find telephone numbers as appropriate; assist the public by providing general information regarding the location of events, dates and times, and MSC policies and procedures.
Maintain office supply inventory; process requisitions to purchase equipment and supplies.
Perform other duties as assigned.
