Minimum Qualifications
- Associate degree from an accredited institution
- Minimum of 3-5 years’ experience with photo and/or video production.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Media Arts, Photography, Film/Videography, or another related field.
- Minimum of five years of experience in communications, journalism, photography, videography, public relations, marketing, communications, graphic design, or related field, preferably within higher education.
- Experience working in a community college/university or related setting in marketing, public information or communications.
Position Description
Under the general direction of the Director of Marketing and Communications, the Multimedia Content Specialist plays an important role in bringing Southeastern Community College to life through compelling photography and video. This individual creates compelling photography, videography, and media content that supports the goals, objectives, and brand of Southeastern Community College. A key role will be supporting and enhancing internal and external communications initiatives to improve how the College connects with employees, students/parents, prospective students/parents and community members utilizing traditional and digital marketing efforts. In addition, produces high quality photographic material in digital format to be used at the college.
Essential Duties:
Under the supervision of the Director of Marketing and Communications, performs or causes to perform the following functions:
- Photographs and/or records video for college events and activities, including but not limited to lectures, seminars, sporting events, special events, and more.
- Tells a story visually and independently captures unique and notable moments of campus life.
- Organize and use digital asset management tool (SCC uses Flickr).
- Prepares visual media for web, print and/or social media usage.
- Works collaboratively to enhance and develop visual continuity between photographs and video.
- Assist in writing news articles highlighting SCC stories.
- Works collaboratively with all of the Marketing and Communications staff to brainstorm and execute imagery that furthers specific marketing plans, campaigns, strategies or budgets.
- Recommends purchases and maintains inventory of video, audio, and multimedia production equipment and computer software.
- Assist with events on and off campus as needed.
- Performs related duties as assigned by supervisor.
Required Skills and Abilities
- Superior written and verbal communication skills.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office and Adobe CC.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
- Availability to work some evenings and weekends.
- Ability to produce photographs using digital SLR camera.
- Ability to produce and edit videos through Adobe Premiere Pro, or other related video software.
- Demonstrated ability to use digital technology to successfully capture images, video segments, and audio both on location and in a studio setting
- Knowledgeable of photographic skills and understands lighting both on location and in studio.
- Highly creative and able to tell a story in writing format and through photo/video
- Ability to concentrate and contribute in a fast-paced environment
- Able to travel and work outside of normal business hours both on-and-off campus as shoots required
