Minimum Qualifications
A Master's degree in Music or a Master's degree with 18 graduate semester hours in Music from a regionally accredited institution is required. The Music Instructor must be a self-starter, a team player, and have a demonstrated ability to work well with others. Excellent oral and written communication skills are required. Proficiency with computer software programs is required.
Preferred Qualifications
Two years of teaching experience at the post-secondary level is preferred (in face-to-face, hybrid, and/or online classrooms). Experience working with diverse students, parents, faculty, staff, and the general public population is preferred. Experience with Moodle or another learning management systems platform and experience organizing or producing music-related events are preferred. Bilingual is preferred.
Position Description
The primary responsibility of the Music Instructor is to provide instruction for classes such as Music Appreciation, Introduction to Jazz, and Music Fundamentals. The applicant will be responsible for course planning, including the development and evaluation of these courses and their assignments. The instructor will serve as an academic advisor and teach the College Transfer Student Success course as needed, will serve on college committees, and participate in college activities such as meetings, professional development opportunities, orientations, recruitment events, and graduations. The instructor will be responsible for maintaining and submitting a variety of academic reports and ensuring accurate and timely recordkeeping. This position will require teaching on-campus, off-campus, and online classes during the day, evening, and/or on weekends and will require other duties to be completed as assigned by the Department Chair and the Dean.
