Minimum Qualifications

  • Associate degree from a regionally accredited institution or significant experience or certifications in warehousing and inventory, motorcycle maintenance and repair, and logistics and planning
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office programs
  • Excellent typing, public relations, communications, and problem-solving skills
  • Strong organizational skills with attention to detail
  • Good oral and written communication skills
  • Working knowledge of the Datatel Colleague system preferred
  • MSF RiderCoach certification preferred
  • Maintain NC motorcycle endorsement
  • Exceptional knowledge of motorcycle maintenance with very good organizational skills
  • Ability to diagnose minor motorcycle issues and perform minor to moderate maintenance and repairs
  • Self motivated with the ability to prioritize and handle multiple tasks and shifting priorities
  • Positive role model to North Carolina RiderCoaches

Position Description

The primary function of this position is to coordinate and oversee the program for motorcycles, motorcycle shops, and the mobile training unit. The position reports to the State Program Director and is housed at Lenoir Community College's Greene County Annex in Snow Hill. This position requires extensive travel.

The duties of the NC Motorcycle Safety Education Program Range and Equipment Manager include, but are not limited to:

  • Responsible for motorcycles owned by the program, training ranges in program sites, and mobile training program
  • Ensuring the mechanical safety and soundness of training motorcycles and performing routine to moderate maintenance and repairs
  • Scheduling and coordinating the mobile training program and transporting motorcycles as needed to support mobile training and permanent sites
  • Maintaining inventory and motorcycle shop as well as existing training ranges and providing layouts for new ranges
  • Developing and maintaining harmonious working relations with motorcycle dealers, site coordinators, Lead RiderCoaches, RiderCoaches, and staff
  • Assist Lead RiderCoaches and site coordinators in the procurement of loaner motorcycles
  • Follow up with purchase of these motorcycles at the end of the loan period
  • Moderate motorcycle maintenance and repairs
  • Proficiently deliver and pick up motorcycles and parts around the state using a one ton truck pulling a 30 foot cargo trailer
  • Assist LCC's Equipment Supervisor in preparing and listing motorcycles and parts on GovDeals.com
  • Attend motorcycle rallies, meetings, open houses, etc. to promote program
  • Assist the Staff Assistant and perform other duties as assigned by the Director of the program

Working Conditions

  • Combination of typical office environment and mechanic shop environment
  • Frequently sitting at a desk or workstation using a telephone, computer, keyboard, and mouse; some standing and walking
  • Evening and/or weekend work is required
  • Requires standing, stooping, bending, kneeling, climbing, and working in tiring and uncomfortable positions
  • Requires loading motorcycles on and off of cargo trailer
  • Requires lifting, pulling, and carrying tools, equipment, and parts that weigh up to 50 pounds
  • Occasionally must lift or move moderately heavy objects up to 100 pounds
