Minimum Qualifications
EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:
- Associate’s degree from a regionally accredited institution in computer science, information systems, programming or a related field.
WORK EXPERIENCE:
- Minimum of 3 years work experience in IT or related field.
- Minimum of 1 year in a supervisor role.
SPECIFIC KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
- Various types of network media and devices
- Local and wide area network (LAN/WAN) switching and routing.
- VLANs and networking protocols
- Network security (IDS, IPS, etc.)
- Remote access and site-to-site VPN experience.
- Microsoft Active Directory (AD) administration.
Preferred Qualifications
EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:
- Bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited institution in computer science, information systems, programming or a related field.
WORK EXPERIENCE:
- Minimum of 5 years work experience in IT or related field.
- Minimum of 3 years supervisory experience.
- Experience in higher education, preferably the North Carolina Community College System (NCCCS).
SPECIFIC KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
- VMWare administration
- Automation via scripting
- Microsoft 365 and Azure AD experience
- Meraki networking devices and deployment
- Amazon Web Services (AWS) administration.
- Blackboard Learning Management System
Position Description
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS/RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Oversee network architecture and infrastructure
- Monitor and troubleshoot wired and wireless network switching and routing hardware and devices.
- Administer various network security tools – firewall, malware protection, DNS proxy, IDS/IPS, etc. and respond to incidents.
- Configure VLAN, IP, and VPN settings and services.
- Utilize DHCP, DNS and SMTP services.
- Oversee College AD and Azure AD network directory.
- Manage essential AAA systems (RADIUS, LDAPS, etc).
- Provide SaaS support of e-mail messaging, video conferencing and collaboration systems.
- Provide guidance for on-premises datacenter and VPC environment.
- Administer College’s ERP platform.
- Provide training and support to end users.
- Complete annual performance reviews.
ADDITIONAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Serve on the College’s Committees as assigned.
- Pursue professional development activities to enhance job skills and knowledge, as agreed upon by employee and supervisor.
- Comply with the College’s policies and procedures.
- Perform related duties and responsibilities, as assigned by supervisor.
