Minimum Qualifications
Education:
Bachelor’s degree in computer science, technology, or Associates degree and five-plus year’s related experience.
Knowledge, Skills, and Experience:
- 5+ years of computer/server support experience in an educational environment preferred.
- Understanding of network and host-based security devices (firewall, Virtual Private Network (VPN), load balancers, switches, routers, wireless and other network based devices or appliances).
- Cisco Certified Network Associate, CCNA (or better) preferred.
- Security+ (or better) preferred
- MCSA (or better) preferred
- VMWare experience preferred

Position Description
Carteret Community College is accepting applications for a full-time Network and Security Administrator. Benefits include paid vacation, paid sick leave, 12 paid holidays, a 4-day work week during the summer, low-cost health insurance, and Teachers' and State Employees' Retirement System (TSERS) pension eligibility.

Salary Range: $41,636 to $46,840; the actual amount within this range to be calculated based on education and experience.

The Network and Security Administrator installs, maintains, enhances, troubleshoots, supports, and monitors the College’s IT network infrastructure and security related hardware and software.
Essential Duties include:
- Provide technical oversight of a multi-building enterprise level network including planning, implementation/expansion, maintenance, upgrades, documentation, and troubleshooting,
- Management of IP telephony and unified communication systems
- Design, deploy, and administer network peripherals (cameras, wireless access points, ip phones, video conference equipment),
- Firewall configuration and maintenance
- MS Office 365 administration
- Analyze and monitor server security and implement patches and fixes to address potential security issues,
- Windows server management in a virtual environment
- Effective written and oral communication skills,
- ability to work effectively as a member of a team, self-motivated, able to work effectively without direct supervision
- Serve as the top tier of support for network related issues,
- Collaborate with IT Team on projects, missions, and goals
