Minimum Qualifications

> Associates degree with a major in Networking, Information Systems, or Computer Science.

> A minimum of two years of network related experience.

Skills include:
• Proficiency in general networking principles such as subnetting, VLANs, DNS, DHCP, switching, and routing protocols.
• Experience with configuring and maintaining Cisco Systems equipment (IOSand NX-OS preferred).
• Experience with configuring and maintaining controller-based wireless infrastructure. (HP Aruba preferred)
• Ability to manage a VMware environment including compute and storage resources (such as HP/3PAR)
• Knowledge and the ability to adapt to different compliance requirements, such as PCI-DSS, FERPA, and HIPAA.
• Experience with configuring and maintaining Palo Alto Networks firewalls.
• Knowledge of security principles related to access control lists, system hardening, network hardening, secure authentication methods, certificates, and intrusion prevention.
• Willingness to conduct security training throughout the year.
• Familiarity with Cisco IP telephony.
• Ability to multi-task and document thoroughly.

Position Description

The Network and Security Administrator will be responsible for the installation, documentation, troubleshooting, security and management of network infrastructure including firewalls, routers and switches. The Administrator will also implement, maintain and troubleshoot wired and wireless networks of different designations: LANs, WANs, CANs and remote site to site connectivity. The person will also perform day-to-day administration of wired and wireless network infrastructure and connectivity across campuses and remote sites.

The position reports directly to the Vice President of Information Technology/CIO.

Job Duties:

The position includes the following responsibilities and expectations:

1. Coordinate and administer the deployment of network-based hardware, software, and projects.

2. Perform the installation, maintenance, and upgrades of network related servers and network infrastructure. Responsible for the security of all WCCservers including but not limited to network devices, firewalls, and remote network management software.

3. Ensure network and supporting technologies are backed up, and a disaster recovery plan is functional, tested and maintain a business continuity plan for network systems.

4. Ensure that WCC meets the requirements stated in the NCCIIPS security standards manual.

5. Maintain the college’s VM and Storage environment.

6. Inform Vice President of Information Technology of new technologies relevant to this position and the college and serve as an expert resource in the subject area of networking and security technology.

7. Maintain knowledgeable of computers and the repair of computers to assist college personnel with problems associated with college computer hardware and software as related to functioning with the college network and security requirements.

8. Monitor help desk requests to determine and resolve network issues reported by users, along with documenting and closing support request tickets.

9. Maintain accurate and organized records to comply with IT audit and the Vice President of Information Technology needs.

10. Serve as an ambassador for the Information Technology department to all divisions of the college.

11. Deliver positive, high-quality internal and external customer service.

12. Deliver positive, high-quality internal and external team interactions.

13. Maintain adequate communications with Vice President of Information Technology and informs of any problems or issues relating to assigned duties.

14. Attend technology training and conferences as necessary to remain current and as determined by the Vice President of Information Technology.

15. Other related duties as required by the college administration.
