Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Information Technology or related field.

Technical certification required: CCNA

One year teaching experience and at least two years of experience configuring Cisco networking equipment including routers, switches, and ASAs.

Required knowledge includes networking infrastructure, operating systems, servers, and hardware installation, as well as a working knowledge of Microsoft Windows, Cisco IOS, and Linux operating systems.

Communication, both oral and written, skills necessary. Must have expert efficiency in Microsoft Office (Access, Excel, PowerPoint, and Word).

Preferred Qualifications

Master’s Degree in Information Technology or a computer science-related field.

Highly Recommended Certifications:
- Security+
- MCSA/MCSE
- Cisco Academy Instructor Certification

Recommended Certifications:
- A+
- Linux+
- Network+

Practical face-to-face teaching experience at the community college or four-year college and/or experience as an industry/corporate trainer.

Working knowledge of Blackboard and Cisco’s Networking Academy (NetAcad) system.

Position Description

Announcement Summary

Fayetteville Technical Community College is seeking qualified applicants for this full-time exempt position. Qualified candidates will possess excellent computer skills, demonstrate evidence of flexible work experiences, and a willingness to change; be open-minded, fair, and possess the ability to see multiple perspectives; be willing to take risks and accept responsibility for professional and personal growth.

Duties

Duties include classroom/laboratory teaching of CCNA and Microsoft industry certification curriculum courses to include:

- Network Fundamentals
- LAN Switching Technologies
- Routing Technologies
- WAN Technologies
- Infrastructure Services, Security & Management

- Windows Server 2016 Configuration/Deployment
- Volumes, Storage, Clustering, DNS, DHCP,
- Active Directory, Certificates, VPNs, 
- Other Windows Related Technologies

Will also teach other IT related courses including, but not limited to, Security, Operating Systems (including Linux), Scripting, Firewall Technologies, and Introductory Computer courses.

Teach classes, provide instructional support, and conduct learning activities to college level and high school students (primarily seniors).

Develop Blackboard sites and supporting materials for specific courses as needed.

Prepare lesson activities; prepare and oversee projects with oversight from lead instructor.

Evaluate students’ class work, laboratory work, assessments, assignments, and papers.

Maintain student attendance records, grades, and other required class records.

Prepare course materials such as syllabi, homework assignments, assessments, slides, assignment schedules, calendars, study materials, and handouts.

Compile, administer, and grade examinations.

Candidate will utilize Blackboard for the course content and delivery LMS as well as develop and support student success strategies that align with the IT/Network Management Department’s mission and goals.

Teach face-to-face classes to include days, evenings, and weekends, both on and off campus.

Teach online classes as needed by the Department.

Incorporate latest instructional technologies & interactive learning technologies in course delivery.

Assist in program recruitment.

Advise and register students who are in the program.

Monitor and improve student retention.

Assist in the design and update of course syllabi, objectives, outlines, and lesson plans.

Evaluate classroom and online instruction and make necessary improvements.

Provide quality customer service to students, faculty, and staff.

Continually develop and improve skills through professional development.

Participate in faculty committees and other activities, as assigned.
