Minimum Qualifications

• Master’s degree in counseling, education, higher education administration or related area
• supervisory and program-development experience
• experience working in an education setting
• understanding of the TRIO population

 

Preferred Qualifications

• experience with grant writing helpful

Position Description

This is a full-time 12-month position reporting to the Dean of Instructional Support.  Student Support Services is a grant funded federal TRIO program.  The Director is responsible for the administration of the SSS program.

Specific duties include:

1. Administer the Student Support Services grant, adhere to grant regulations and prepare annual reports

2. Write the SSS grant every five years

3. Develop the budget and monitor expenses

4. Supervise full-time professional staff and part-time lab assistants and tutors

5. Determine eligibility of SSS participants

6. Assess services, activities, objectives, and student learning outcomes and make data-driven changes

7. Participate in the selection of personnel, and provide staff orientation, training, supervision and evaluation 

8. Collaborate with Advising, the Academic Support Center, Disability Services, Financial Aid, the Registrar and other WCC support services  

9. Develop a marketing plan; disseminate information about services provided by SSS

10. Partner with WCC faculty to discuss student progress and tutoring support needs

11. Monitor and maintain student and program records, ensuring all files are complete, current, and confidential as mandated by federal regulations

12. Serve as the chair of the Doc Watson Emergency Fund Committee

13. Participate in professional development

14. Other related duties as required by supervisor
