Minimum Qualifications
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
Knowledge of dental hygiene clinical care and current bloodborne pathogen standards
Strong professionalism and ethical standards
Strong organizational and communication skills
Beginner proficiency in Microsoft Office specifically Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
Requirements:
High School Diploma or Equivalent
Two years of experience as Dental Hygienist, Dental Assistant or Sterilization Technician in a Dental Office
Current CPR Certification
Ability to work flexible schedule consistent with dental clinic and lab schedules
Preferred Qualifications
Associates Degree or Certificate/Diploma in Dental Assisting from a Commission on Dental Accreditation Program
NC Statewide Program for Infection Control and Epidemiology (SPICE) Certified
Current Certified Dental Assistant (CDA) or Registered Dental Hygienist (RDH)
Position Description
This position is responsible for overseeing the sterilization and infection control functions in the Dental Hygiene Clinic as well as ordering all supplies and securing service of equipment.
Responsibilities and Duties (*Essential Functions):

*Oversees the Department infection control programs, serving as the infection control officer and radiation safety officer, and all sterilization functions in the program to include instrument sterilization, spore testing of autoclaves, testing water lines, etc.
*Orders and maintains supplies and equipment for clinic, emergencies, dental materials and radiology, organizes clinic and store rooms, arranges for repairs.
*Oversees the inventory of all clinic equipment and durable goods.
*Dispenses all instruments and supplies to students during clinic, to include imaging plates and digital sensors used for x-rays.
*Assists faculty with providing supervision of students during clinical assistant rotations
*Sets up for all program labs and clinics such as Dental Radiography Lab, Materials and Procedures Lab, Preclinic Lab and all levels of clinic.
*Oversees regular cleaning of all dental units in clinic.
Secures the cabinets and clinic at the end of each day.
Serves as a back-up cashier and Patient Care Coordinator when the PCC is not available (vacation, sick, etc.).
Supports ADA, CODA standards in operating the program as well as the objectives and mission of the institution
Maintains, analyzes and reports program sterilization data and provides for program improvements
Collaborates with the WTCC's Director of Environmental, Health, and Safety concerning disposal of biohazard waste
