• Bachelor’s degree
• One year teaching experience

Position Description
Job Description
The English for Speakers of Other Languages Instructor is located primarily on the Old Charlotte Highway Campus in Monroe, NC. This is a part-time position with the potential of up to 22.5 hours per week. Under the direction of the ESOL Coordinator, the ESOL Instructor will provide language instruction in order to assist adult learners in learning and improving speaking, listening, reading, writing, and grammar skills necessary for successful integration into US culture and transition to postsecondary education and/or employment.
Job Duties
• Plan and facilitate academic and life skills lessons for adults who want to learn and improve English language skills using the NC Adult Education Content Standards and CASAS Competencies
• Focus on increasing students’ speaking, listening, reading and writing abilities
• Communicate material in a positive and appropriate learning environment
• Provide direct instruction, small group and individualized educational activities as appropriate
• Communicate with both the ESOL Coordinator and ESOL Administrative Testing Specialist to support student learning and outcomes
• Maintain required paperwork including an online attendance roster, registration forms, and lesson plans
• Attend local, state, and national professional development opportunities as appropriate
