Minimum Qualifications
An Associate degree in a health-related field with a current national certification as a Medical Laboratory Technician is required. One year of work experience in current full-time clinical laboratory is required. Must possess good communication skills, work well with adult learners and be able to work flexible instructional hours as needed.
Preferred Qualifications
Five years of work experience in current full-time clinical laboratory is preferred. A Bachelor’s degree in a health-related field is preferred. A current national certification as Medical Technologist or Medical Laboratory Scientist and bilingual are preferred.
Position Description
Duties include providing effective instruction and evaluation of student achievement in specific content areas of medical laboratory technology curriculum including didactic instruction and supervision of hands-on labs. Content areas may include: Urinalysis & Body Fluids, Hematology/Hemostasis, Immunohematology, Microbiology, and Clinical Chemistry.
The essential duties and responsibilities include developing curriculum, policy and procedures, and performance objectives. The MLT Instructor will assess program outcomes, provide employability skills and promote career awareness. Duties include providing individualized and safety instructions and will monitor inventory of lab supplies and student clinical progress. The instructor will maintain records and follow state requirements for the program as well as perform all other duties assigned by the program director or supervisor.
