Minimum Qualifications

  • High school diploma
  • Any combination of education, training, and experience that demonstrates the ability to perform the duties and responsibilities as described including related work experience in one or more of the building trades
  • Licensed tradesman preferred
  • Ability to use common hand tools
  • Experience in performing routine maintenance
  • Strong organizational and follow up skills
  • Detail oriented
  • Team player with great interpersonal skills
  • Ability to maintain focus while working individually
  • Strong time management skills
  • Possess normal care and awareness required to prevent injuries
  • Must have or be able to obtain a valid NC driver's license

Position Description

The Maintenance Technician is responsible for general maintenance of facilities to avoid possible failure and malfunctions. This individual will assist the Director of Maintenance in the servicing, repairing, and basic day-to-day needs of the Facilities Maintenance Department.

The duties of the Maintenance Technician include, but are not limited to: 

  • Perform minor and/or major repair of buildings and selected equipment (excluding electrical and HVAC) 
  • Perform preventive maintenance procedures on buildings on a scheduled and/or work order basis 
  • Assist with the renovation/remodeling of buildings 
  • Respond to emergency maintenance requests as required or needed 
  • Move furniture and equipment 
  • Repair doors, door locks, closures, and windows 
  • Minor roofing repairs 
  • Operate a forklift 
  • Perform preventative maintenance on LCC vehicles (oil, water, other fluids, tire pressure, etc.) 
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and orderly work site 
  • Other duties and responsibilities as assigned

Working Conditions

  • Must be able to work inside or outside facilities with exposure to heat and cold on a daily basis 
  • Moderate physical activity requiring long periods of standing, walking, and periodic lifting of 50 pounds or more 
  • Must be able to ascend and descend ladders up to 25 feet high to carry out inspections and repair work 
  • Must be able to crawl and work in confined spaces to repair equipment and fixtures
