Minimum Qualifications

Associate's degree in information systems, computer science, computer programming or closely related field from a regionally accredited institution of higher learning or relevant work experience and training.

Two (2) years' experience working in the Ellucian Colleague environment
 

Preferred Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in related field from a regionally accredited institution of higher learning.

Three (3) years' experience in system analysis and design, system administration, and programming in a community college environment.

Experience with RedHat and Informer.

Systems Administrator

SALARY:$40,500.00 - $44,000.00 AnnuallyDIVISION:AdministrationDEPARTMENT:Technology ServicesOPENING DATE:08/11/20CLOSING DATE:08/31/20 05:00 PMOCCUPATIONAL SUMMARY:
The position of Systems Administrator is responsible for installing, maintaining and monitoring all the hardware and software required to run the College's ERP and associated administrative computer systems. This position works with vendors and employees to accomplish the College's goals through the use of the ERP and associated systems. The Systems Administrator performs testing, configuration, administration and troubleshooting of systems that interact with the College's administrative computing systems.ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Installs, configures, tests, troubleshoots, and monitors hardware/software applications in support of the College's ERP system and maintains interfaces to other mission critical systems
  • Maintains, manages, configures and troubleshoots administrative computer operating systems including Windows and RedHat, server back-up systems, web-based systems and associated applications
  • Performs system maintenance during weekly scheduled downtime window requiring possible evening and weekend hours as needed
  • Maintains application system security; adds and removes users from administrative computing systems
  • Establishes and maintains test/development environments as needed by IT and key College staff
  • Performs daily ERP and associated system log checks
  • Performs user account maintenance and provides technical support to end users as needed; enters and maintains service requests in the HelpDesk system
  • Stays current on technology and best practices related to areas of responsibility
  • Participates in appropriate committees and task forces as assigned
  • Performs other job-related duties and projects as assigned in support of the College's mission, core values and goals

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Associate's degree in information systems, computer science, computer programming or closely related field from a regionally accredited institution of higher learning or relevant work experience and training.

Two (2) years' experience working in the Ellucian Colleague environment

Three (3) years' experience in system analysis and design, system administration, and programming in a community college environment.

Experience with RedHat and Informer.KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:Knowledge

  • Extensive knowledge of information technology practices, standards and protocols
  • Working knowledge of Windows servers, the RedHat operating system and Unidata
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite software and third-party systems accessed software via desktop client or web-based client
  • Moderate level of understanding of project management concepts
  • Working knowledge of SQL and Java Script
  • Working knowledge of information security principles and practices and IT quality control processes
  • Working knowledge of Technical support processes and protocols
  • System and application software and hardware

 
Skills

  • Requirements gathering, designing, prototyping, troubleshooting, and supporting users
  • Proficiency in use of administrative computer software used by the North Carolina Community College System including Colleague and Informer
  • Maintain and establish work schedule and provide on-call assistance, including nights and weekends
  • Effectively use organizational and planning skills, including attention to detail and follow-through to efficiently meet deadlines, schedules and target dates
  • Conduct research, analysis, audits, and quality assurance in relation to areas of responsibility
  • Use query and control languages
  • Track, troubleshoot, and resolve user problems
