Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or higher NOTE: Degrees and hours must be from a college accredited by a United States Department of Education accepted accrediting agency such as SACSCOC.
• Three years of work experience in higher education.
• Must have budget management abilities and be proficient in both written and oral communication.
• Good organizational and interpersonal skills essential.
• Ability to work independently, meet deadlines, be computer literate, and have a demonstrated skill to work under pressure.

Preferred Qualifications

• A strong understanding of Student Development Theory and how theory informs practice in an educational setting.
• Two years of previous experience in the community college environment (advising and student services background a plus).

Position Description

The Director is responsible for managing the daily activities of the Student Success Center to include Academic Advising and Registration and International Student Advising. The Director will design and implement initiatives in collaboration with faculty and other Student Success Services areas focused on increased enrollment and retention activities. The Director will develop plans for offering all Student Success Center services through both face-to-face and at-a-distance methods. The Director oversees all aspects of advising services for current, prospective, and international students ensuring that Center personnel provide guidance with academic issues, educational planning, RISE interpretation, career information, new student orientation, and referral services for various student barriers. The Director will establish relationships with partners from other area colleges and universities to enhance the college transfer process for students.

Transformational Leadership
• Establish goals, objectives, and mission statement for the Student Success Center.
• Use data driven strategies to support college retention goals.
• Provide leadership and insight within the Enrollment Services Team.
• Ensure that staffing and technology is adequate to meet the needs of all students, staff and college stakeholders.
• Ensure all academic advising staff are adequately trained and deliver optimal services to all students, staff, and campus stakeholders. This includes, but is not limited to, on-going professional development and training for all advising staff.

Collaboration

• Participate as a representative of administration on college committees and projects as assigned.
• Revise, and maintain an Advising Handbook.
• Assist in training college faculty and staff in the split advising model.
• Work with senior administrators, faculty, staff, as well as all College departments strategically develop and implement advising programs to enhance student persistence.
• Serve as Co-Lead on Navigate Workflow & Training Team and Application Administrator for Navigate Forsyth Tech.
• Work with collegiate partners to plan college transfer fairs.
Strategic Planning & Innovation

• Implement the revised model of academic advising (centralized and dispersed).
• Develop assessment tools to analyze the success of academic advising redesign.
• Ensure all processes and procedures necessary to deliver optimal academic advising services, are documented in written form and regularly updated.
• Evaluate technology available for the Student Success Center and make recommendations to senior leadership.
• Implement on-line advising for diverse student and programmatic needs.
• Expand advising services to other college sites (off-campus centers).
• Develop promotional materials for the Student Success Center.
• Ensures that adequate data on academic advising and student success is collected, maintained and disseminated to the Executive Leadership Team and appropriate college employees.
• Initiate and plan college transfer fairs and other programming.
Student-Centered Programming

• Provide programmatic support of diverse student populations by developing strategic robust and holistic wrap-around services addressing a spectrum of student needs.
• Utilize research methods and survey tools to determine student satisfaction.
• Develop and implement a comprehensive academic advising system that meets the needs of all students and is directly linked to the College’s Strategic Plan and is focused on student success.
