Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in criminal justice or related field. Minimum of five year’s relevant experience in law enforcement, corrections, probation/parole or related field. Previous experience teaching in a BLET program.
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations: Current North Carolina Basic Law Enforcement certification. Current instructor certification by North Carolina Department of Justice Training and Standards Division.

Position Description
- The Director will administer public safety and security related software systems, file and record federal and state compliance reports as required by the Clery Act.
- The Director plans and manages public safety and security related capital projects.
- Develop and coordinate the college’s emergency preparedness plans, establish and nurture contacts internally and externally to prevent and solve safety and security issues and proactively create programs and training in support of safety, security and emergency preparedness.
- Assist academy instructors in maintaining all required college records, including attendance and grade reports, roll books, etc.
- Maintain, review, and update syllabi.
- Order supplies, equipment, equipment repairs, textbooks for courses and the scheduling of classrooms.
- Responsible for BLET program recruitment.
- Maintain current professional credentials required for the position.
- Attend all required department and college-wide meetings.
- Serve on committees as required.
- Participate in college-wide activities.
- Provide quality service to students, faculty and staff.
- Monitor and ensure compliance of the College’s BLET program with state code, laws, rules, and regulations as they pertain to law enforcement training.
