Education Minimum: Associate's degree in Computer Science or closely related field.
Experience Minimum: Four (4) years of experience supervising in a technical environment, four (4) years of system administration experience supporting the Ellucian Colleague ERP or another ERP system. One (1) year of experience in operations analysis and design, system programming, or closely related area.

Position Description
Summary
A technical-management position responsible for providing daily guidance to the Administrative Computing section, support for the College’s ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning) system and peripherals such as Colleague, Webadvisor, Self-service and Informer within the Information Technology Department. Work assignments are usually received from the CIO or are self-initiated through project requests. This position is responsible for planning, designing, implementing, monitoring, analyzing, troubleshooting and managing the College’s ERP system and services. These responsibilities require interaction with senior and departmental managers across the College for planning and coordination. Work requires the employee to manage support staff and plan activities such as maintenance scheduling, establishing priorities, recommending equipment purchases, and identification of facility needs as well as consulting with clients on technology feasibility. Maintain adherence to college policy and procedures.
The Director of Administrative Computing participates in periodic strategic planning efforts and often serves as a resource to committees and College divisions/departments seeking to utilize automation to make tasks or processes more efficient. This position responds to after-hours system resource failure support requests. Some night and weekend work required.
Knowledge & Responsibilities:
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following:
- Maintains security posture of the College’s ERP and associated systems in accordance with the NC IIPS Information Security Manual requirements.
- Develop and maintain processes to insure college compliance with federal, state, and other applicable information security policies.
- Works with vendor(s) on ERP related hardware and software projects.
- Confer with divisions/departments on issues such as programming requests, access needs, security violations, and system access changes.
- Work with division and department leaders on issues related to implementation of new technology and automation.
- Understanding of software development cycles and software development tools.
- Monitor and maintain high levels of security for administrative computing systems.
- Stay current on product availability to meet institutional needs and propose new initiatives to meet identified needs
- General understanding of programming processes and ability to assist System Programmer in troubleshooting application processes.
- Manage and maintain the Information Technology Risk Assessment/Analysis program for the Administrative Computing services.
- Maintains competency in emerging technologies related to the college's ERP systems.
- Oversee subordinate activities
- Plan, manage, document, and implement the introduction of new automation into the network environment while working with other division(s)/department(s) desiring the new features/capabilities.
- Generate and update internal guidelines related to Administrative Computing services, configuration and management.
- Review ERP system performance reports.
- Develop and maintain ERP system installation and maintenance procedures.
- Insure continuity binder(s) related to each server system are maintained.
- Responds to afterhours support calls.
- Works closely with other outside agencies for technical support.
- Insures daily monitoring and checks of the ERP environment are completed.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Supervisory Responsibilities: Directly supervises more than two but less than 10 employees.

Computer Skills
To perform this job successfully, an individual should be proficient in Microsoft Office applications, Microsoft Windows Server operating systems, Active Directory, UNIX/Solaris, Ellucian Colleague, programming/scripting and database experience.
