Minimum Qualifications
Education Required:
• Bachelor’s degree in Music, Music Business, or a related degree from a regionally accredited post-secondary institution.
Experience Required:
• Three (3) years minimum professional experience working in the music and entertainment industry in a production or management capacity, e.g. artist management, concert venue management and production, music publishing and copyright, record production and distribution, audio products and services, entertainment law, or similar job titles.
• Two (2) years of post-secondary teaching experience in higher education and/or documented industry training experience with entertainment industry topics.
Preferred Qualifications
Education Preferred:
• Master’s degree in Music or a related field with a minimum of 18 graduate semester hour credits in Music from a regionally accredited post-secondary institution.
Experience Preferred:
• Greater than three (3) years minimum professional experience working in the music and entertainment industry in a production or management capacity, e.g. artist management, concert venue management and production, music publishing and copyright, record production, recording engineering and distribution, audio products and services, entertainment law, or similar job titles.
• Greater than two (2) years of post-secondary teaching experience in higher education and/or documented industry training experience with entertainment industry topics.
• Experience with Avid Pro Tools and Apple Computers
• Community college teaching experience
• Experience with assessment of student learning outcomes
• Experience with distance learning and/or alternate instructional delivery systems
Position Description
Teaching faculty at Guilford Technical Community College are responsible for supporting student success by creating an optimum learning environment, responding to student needs, managing effective instructional activities, developing curriculum courses, modeling employability skills, demonstrating professionalism, developing cooperative work relationships with other faculty and staff, supporting college administrative requirements, and maintaining competency in their instructional field. He/she will be responsible for quality instruction and for effective participation and interest in the total affairs of the college.
The Division of Business, Creative & Performing Arts seeks an energetic, enthusiastic, and collaborative entertainment business instructor with significant industry experience to join our team. Under general supervision, this individual will prepare and teach courses designed to support career technical programs to include introductory entertainment business courses and possibly music courses. These would include artist management, concert venue management and production, music publishing and copyright, record production and distribution, audio products and services, entertainment law, and music appreciation. The ideal candidate should be inclusive, knowledgeable, and articulate in historical and contemporary issues of entertainment business, and related fields and committed to working constructively with all facets of growing an entertainment program within a community college setting. Candidates should provide evidence of excellent teaching and successful industry accomplishment.
