Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree
Advising, teaching and/or counseling experience with culturally diverse or adult populations
One year of classroom teaching experience
Must be willing and able to travel locally between campuses
Preferred Qualifications
Master's Degree
Two years-experience advising, teaching and/or counseling students from College and Career Readiness (CCR)/Basic Skills programs including but not limited to: Adult Basic Education, Adult Secondary Education, or English as a Second Language (ESL)
Experience advising, teaching and/or counseling culturally diverse, adult populations

This position is responsible for providing a broad range of advising, career coaching, and mentoring to facilitate the development of students entering and progressing through the College and Career Readiness programs.
This position was established as a response to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Responsibilities and Duties (*Essential Functions):

*Assists Director in developing and implementing a comprehensive advising program
*Provides academic advice, career guidance, case management, and transitional services to students in one-on-one and small group settings
*Informs and advises students for selection of program and courses, assist in developing an academic plan, recommend coursework relevant to academic plan, discuss enrollment policies and procedures, and answer specific inquiries
*Collaborates with faculty to identify at-risk students and develop interventional strategies with the intent of improving student success
*Plans, organizes and provides instruction using level specific materials and methodologies to maximize student learning
*Establishes and executes meaningful learning objectives
Develops curriculum related to assigned subject that follows the provided instructional model
Utilizes a proactive advising model; engage in regular, ongoing, intentional outreach to students to increase student success and retention
Provides students with academic success strategies, information about specific areas of study, and general knowledge of college and program requirements to facilitate a successful transition to curriculum programs or careers, foster retention, and promote completion of college credentials
Utilizes technology to effectively monitor student progress towards their academic goal(s) or credential completion and to record student interactions
Assists in the development and maintenance of effective advising and academic planning materials for students
Meets paperwork deadlines
Contacts active and inactive students to assist them with progressing to completion and/or returning to the program
Provides evening, weekend, and online advising services as required
Participates in the development and presentation of workshops and other activities focused on transition to college, student success, and retention
Responds in a timely and professional manner to enrollment and program inquiries
Completes an annual applied benchmark project on an individual or group basis
Participates in scheduled In-Service training, staff meetings, and professional development trainings and activities.
Provides professional development training to staff

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
Excellent oral, written, and listening skills
Student-focused, demonstrates initiative, and able to adapt to change
Intermediate proficiency with Microsoft Office products, particularly Excel
Ability to relate, collaborate and communicate well with individuals from all socio-economic levels and ethnic groups with respect and sensitivity
Knowledge of college student development and retention practices
Self-directed, organized, task-oriented, detail-oriented and flexible
Ability to demonstrate a variety of instructional techniques and methods
Available to work a flexible schedule, as needed, including day and night hours
