Position Description
This position creates, supports, and enhances internal and external college initiatives to include Sea Devils athletics, and connects with students, prospective students, the campus community, and community stakeholders through communication and multimedia marketing efforts.
SUPERVISION RECEIVED AND EXERCISED:
- Receives supervision from the Executive Director of Marketing and Community Relations
Duties & Responsibilities (Essential Functions):ESSENTIAL AND OTHER IMPORTANT FUNCTIONS STATEMENTS:
Essential and other important responsibilities and duties may include, but are not limited to, the following.,
Essential Functions:
- Creates content for Cape Fear Community College's marketing efforts focusing on, but not limited to, athletics and student engagement activities
- Maintains up-to-date and relevant content for CFCC social media accounts, the college and athletics websites, broadcast and print advertising
- Monitors official athletic departments' social media accounts for accurate and consistent compliance with college standards and brand guidelines
- Monitors and updates web and social media assets to ensure ADA compliance
- Trains social media content contributors in best practices for social media content creation and ADA compliance
- Understands and demonstrates commitment to programs and activities that support an inclusive and diverse campus community
- Maintains knowledge of current industry practices and makes recommendations related to social media and digital marketing trends
- Monitors competitive environment (often using analytics) to improve/grow social media presence and reach
- Writes and edits online content, including season and game previews, recaps, and interest stories
- Works with graphic designers to create ads, brochures, booklets, programs, agendas, banners, flyers, maps, print and digital advertisements, posters, signage, and other publications to support student-athlete recruitment, student engagement, fundraising, partnership building, and more
- Uses Adobe Creative Suite and other design tools to create and edit content for event promotion and advertising
- Takes photographs and creates videos for events as needed; edits as needed
- Serves as main point of contact between the athletics department and media outlets
- Assists all marketing and Sea Devils athletics team members as needed
Other Important Functions:
- Maintains a current database of all local media outlets, as well as all CFCC student-athlete hometown media outlets
- Interviews students, employees, alumni, and others as needed for articles, multi-media presentations, and advertising
- Fosters and maintains favorable relationships with all college departments, divisions, members of news media agencies, and community organizations
- Attends staff meetings regularly
- Pays close attention to detail and submits error-free
- Maintains an organized office environment and saves files in an organized, accessible manner
- Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned
Qualifications:QUALIFICATIONS:
Knowledge of:
- Social Media platforms - Facebook, LinkedIn, Instagram, Snapchat, TikTok, YouTube, etc.
- Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills. Proficient English usage, spelling, grammar, and punctuation; and Associated Press (AP) writing style
- HTML/CSS
- Content Management Systems (preferably WordPress)
- Digital SLR photography and photo editing
- Videography and editing
- Google Analytics
- Adobe Creative Cloud Suite
- Online graphic design tools (Canva, etc.)
- Video player/editing tools (Vimeo, YouTube)
- ADA compliance requirements

- Adjust personal schedule to meet the needs of the marketing and athletics departments
- Easily relate with people and project a feeling of confidence and competence; handle stressful situations in a professional manner
- Practice of open and effective communication with students, faculty, and staff to build and maintain collaborative relationships
