Minimum Qualifications

Completed coursework in computer information technology, computer programming, or other related degree.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience with helpdesk systems, computer hardware, Audio/Visual systems, and networking knowledge preferred, but not required.

Position Description

This is a part-time temporary, position in the Information Technology Department and will report to the Vice President of Information Technology/CIO. The ideal candidate will be innovative, creative, inquisitive, engaging, collaborative, and proactive. He or she will be a self-starter who is excited about new technology and who continuously aims to take technology to the next level. The technician will work closely with WCC faculty, staff, and students to provide quality technology support and innovative ideas to support the mission of Wilkes Community College. The technician must be able to communicate ideas effectively and assist people with all levels of technological experience and knowledge.

> Hours: Monday through Thursday, up to 28 hours per week.

> This is a temporary part-time position.

Job Duties

The position includes the following responsibilities and expectations:

• Maintain, install, test, troubleshoot, and repair computers, technology equipment, including software and related supplies.

• Assist in the installation of network and multimedia projects as directed.

• Monitor help desk requests to determine and resolve problems reported from users, along with documenting and closing support request tickets.

• Ability to prioritize and schedule work duties.

• Maintain accurate and organized records to comply with audit and the Vice President of Information Technology needs.

• Deliver positive high-quality internal and external customer service.

• Demonstrate a commitment to WCC’s mission, learner-centered vision, and core values.

• Maintain adequate communications with the Vice President of Information Technology and informs of any problems or issues relating to assigned duties.

• Other duties as assigned.
