Minimum Qualifications
A Master's degree in Early Childhood Education, Child Development or Child and Family Studies or a Master's degree in Education with 18 graduate hours in these related fields from a regionally accredited institution is required. Experience in teaching young children (birth to age 8) is preferred. Preparation in teaching and learning principles including curriculum development, implementation, and evaluation are required. This job requires a candidate with excellent oral and written communication skills. The instructor must be organized and proficient with commonly used computer software.
Preferred Qualifications
It is preferred the candidate be familiar with the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC) accreditation. Community college or post-secondary teaching experience and Bilingual is preferred.
Position Description
The position requires teaching 17-22 contact hours per semester. Duties include advising students in the Early Childhood program as well as course development with timely submission of reports and participation on assigned committees. Participation in events including meetings, orientation, graduation, recruitment activities, college planning processes and adherence to achieving learning outcomes and in engaging in marketing and public relations are required. The instructor will assist in evaluation and acquisition of instructional materials, equipment, and textbooks. The instructor must demonstrate a commitment to creating a culture that encourages excellence, professional development, continued competence in area of responsibility and an understanding of diverse backgrounds of students and employees. This position also requires both daytime and some evening work hours.
