OCCUPATIONAL SUMMARY:

The Executive Director of Institutional Effectiveness provides leadership for college-wide strategic planning initiatives, administrative and curriculum program review, assessment/evaluation, accreditation, and student learning outcomes.  The Executive Director works with administrators, faculty, and the executive leadership team to ensure institutional compliance with all state, federal and accreditation standards.  This position is responsible for applying advanced knowledge of planning principles, institutional research methodologies, complex statistical analyses, survey design and administration, and best practices of outcome assessment to monitor institutional effectiveness and continuous improvement.  The Executive Director monitors the College's compliance and guides processes to ensure policies and procedures, the web site, and institutional processes related to regional accreditation are current and accurate.  This position is a member of the President's Cabinet, and serves as the College's Accreditation Liaison with the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools, Commission on Colleges.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Provides oversight and supervision for institutional planning, assessment, evaluation, accreditation, compliance and planning activities of the College
  • Selects, supervises, trains, motivates and evaluates a team of professionals to support the mission, goals and objectives of the College
  • Serves as the College's accreditation liaison to the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools, Commission on Colleges; directs all efforts related to reaffirmation, reporting substantive changes, and meeting other requirements to maintain compliance with the Principles of Accreditation; monitors and guides policies and procedures to ensure College processes related to regional accreditation are current and accurate
  • Ensures that meaningful, appropriate/accurate data and supporting documentation is available to meet the decision-making needs of the College; provides technical and analytical guidance to College departments, committees, faculty, staff and administration with respect to data needs, key performance indicators and statistical analysis
  • Develops, implements and maintains a system for institutional strategic planning; provides leadership, oversight and expertise for the College's multi-year and annual strategic planning processes
  • Develops, implements, maintains and evaluates a comprehensive system for assessing effectiveness of College programs and services including surveys; national benchmarking; data reports; qualitative and quantitative analyses; and research designs in order to support institutional decision making and mission attainment
  • In consultation with the Vice Presidents, develops and coordinates College-wide academic and administrative program reviews; provides orientation and support to learning centers and departments in the review process; delivers monitoring reports to the Executive Leadership Team
  • Conducts institutional research and benchmarking studies that support the College's academic programs, total quality management initiatives and institutional decision-making using appropriate research methodologies and analytical techniques including CCSSE, SENSE, NCCCBP and Cost and Productivity
  • Supports the academic program planning processes as required by NCCCS and SACSCOC for implementation of new curriculum degree programs; develops and submits new program proposals on behalf of the College
  • Supervises the design, preparation and completion of institutional and national surveys to support research and performance evaluation, provides summary analyses and disseminates results
  • Manages internal and external data requests; continuously reviews factors affecting data reliability, procedural integrity, coding accuracy, data security, and related issues; researches and recommends changes to ensure data integrity
  • Drafts and presents high-level reports for the College including but not limited to prospectuses, The Fact Book, Our Identity, Strategic Priorities and the Annual Report
  • Participates in appropriate committees and task forces as assigned
  • Performs other job-related duties and projects as assigned in support of the College's mission, core values and goals

  • Quantitative and qualitative research, data collection, statistical analysis and reporting
  • Regional accreditation requirements, guidelines and reporting
  • Basic statistical theories and principles
  • Outcomes assessment of student learning

 
Skills

  • Proficiency with computer software programs important to institutional research such as data warehouses and data modeling software
  • Proficiency with MS Office to include Work, Excel, PowerPoint and database software
  • Proficiency in research design and analysis
  • Advanced organizational skills to handle, direct and prioritize multiple and complex assignments and projects
  • Analyzing complex problems, identifying solutions and demonstrating critical thinking
  • Effective supervisory skills to include coaching and mentoring to support employees

  • Ability to gather data from a variety of sources, synthesize and summarize the information and clearly present it to a variety of audiences
  • Ability to recommend and implement goals and objectives for institutional planning and research
