Minimum Qualifications
- Minimum of an Associate's degree from a regionally accredited institution in Biotechnology or the Life Sciences.
- Hands-on laboratory experience in molecular biology, biochemistry, biotechnology or biomanufacturing.
- Familiarity with cGMP and GLP.
- Ability to work collaboratively with internal and external constituents.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Understanding of, and sensitivity to, the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural and ethnic backgrounds of community college students and staff.
- Demonstrated experience with current analytical techniques and instrumentation.
- Experience working in community outreach within the STEM disciplines.
- Able to work in a flexible environment.
- Problem solving skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Academic, research and/or industry experience in Biotechnology or a related scientific or FDA regulated environment.
- Bachelor's Degree in a science discipline preferred.
- Lab experience in a Community College setting preferred.
Strong computer skills, including working knowledge of MS Office; familiarity with
Google Docs/Drive and other cloud-based data sharing platforms a plus.
Position Description
Alamance Community College (ACC) is seeking a part-time, Lab Operations Specialist and Project/Outreach Coordinator
EXAMPLE OF DUTIES:
This employee will assist in the day-to-day operations of the biotechnology and biosciences laboratory spaces. Responsibilities include assisting the faculty and students to provide support and coordinate various lab activities. Duties include participating inthe development of curricular materials, beta testing new lab modules before dissemination, and aiding in the preparation and execution of laboratory activities in various courses. As a project and outreach coordinator, the employee will be interacting with vendors and contractors, participate in coordinating grant activities as it relates to projects and coordinate, and conduct outreach activities both on and off-site, including social media.
This position interfaces with students, faculty, staff and community partners to improve
student enrollment, recruitment and retention. Gathering and reporting data in accordance with grant requirements is also a critical function of this position. Ability to work day, evening and weekends as needed
