  • Knowledge of marketing trends and regularly shares recommendations on tactics and strategies;

Education Minimum:  Associate degree or certificates in graphic design, marketing or related field. Community college or higher education experience also preferred.

Position Description

Summary
The Graphic Designer works within the Communications Department and is responsible for in-house graphic design which aligns with Johnston Community College’s brand standards. The person in this position should have a strong understanding and demonstrated experience in graphic design, digital and print marketing, and web and social media content development. The position requires exceptionally communication skills as well as broad capacity for analyzing and synthesizing information. Familiarity with a DSLR camera is preferred and mastery of Adobe Suite is required.  

 

Knowledge & Responsibilities:

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Planning, creation, and execution of designs for digital and print marketing materials which include but are not limited to: ads, logos, brochures, flyers, video, advertisements, and publications, both printed and digital.
  • Develop multimedia content ideas and visual solutions in collaboration with the Communications and Marketing Team.
  • Maintain branding and graphic identity standards for the College and manage the creation and approvals of designs across departments.
  • Record and edit audio and video files 
  • Take photos of campus events and other happenings around campus for use in digital or print design, and handle outsourcing of photography where appropriate to meet demand.
  • Create content for social media in collaboration with the Digital Marketing Associate and Videographer.
  • Develop and manage RFPs, reviews, delivery schedules, and production of print-ready files from external print vendors for Marketing and Communications Department.
  • Maintain, edit, and organize campus photos and designs.
  • Assist in training and building content for Graphics Toolkit
  • Basic knowledge of CMS platforms to assist in updating website
  • Works closely with colleagues in admissions, instruction, advancement and other key administrators to improve marketing materials.

 
Supervisory Responsibilities:  This position currently does not supervise anyone.
