Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited college in a discipline represented within the School of Business, Applied Technologies, and Public Services.
- Significant business, industry, and/or higher education experience.
- 5 to 7 years of progressive leadership and academic administrative experience in a postsecondary institution.
- 5 years of post-secondary teaching experience in a field represented within the School.
- Experience in budget development and management.
- Experience with curriculum/program assessment, development, and implementation.
- Experience in building collaborative business, industry, community, and workforce education partnerships.
- Experience with programmatic accreditation and regulatory compliance processes such as student learning outcomes and faculty credentials.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master’s degree from a regionally accredited college in a discipline represented within the School of Business, Applied Technologies, and Public Services
- 7 to 10 years of progressive leadership and academic administrative experience in a postsecondary institution.

Position Description
The Dean of Business, Applied Technologies, and Public Services is responsible for leading and working collaboratively to ensure the School of Business, Applied Technologies, and Public Services is offering viable academic programs that meet the labor market needs of the college’s service region. The individual selected will lead and work with innovative department chairs, program heads and faculty to provide a meaningful educational experience for students enrolling in programs. This role will plan, manage, and direct academic matters to ensure excellence in teaching, learning, and student outcomes. Moreover, the Dean will seek innovative ways to increase access, student retention, and close equity gaps in all academic program areas within the school. The Dean will be visible and engaged in the four-county service area for the college. This position partners with and reports directly to the Vice President of Learning, Student Engagement & Success (Chief Academic and Student Affairs Officer).

Administration, Leadership and Faculty Development
- Provides leadership and vision for the School of Business, Applied Technologies, and Public Services.
- Demonstrate collaborative and inclusive leadership when working with fellow deans, faculty, senior leadership, internal and external partners.
- Create an environment of innovation and open communication within the School of Business, Applied Technologies, and Public Services.
- Foster an environment of assessment, continuous learning, and improvement, while meeting the goals of the School of Business, Applied Technologies, and Public Services, college, and greater communities.
- Leads and directly supervises the Department Chair of Applied Technologies, Department Chair of Business, Department Chair of Public Services, and an Administrative Assistant.
- Provides direct oversight of the college’s curriculum Work-Based Learning (WBL) Coordinator and program including collaborating with relevant departments to meet institutional and state WBL reporting requirements.
- Provides curricular leadership in relation to college-wide goals by initiating, sustaining, and/or transitioning academic programs and college core curricula in accordance with strategic planning goals.
- Ensures instructor teaching load averages are within acceptable ranges as established by Faculty Workload Policy and the Administrative Policy Manual.
- Assists in the orientation of new faculty members and assists in the designing of professional development and growth opportunities for all faculty & staff. Resolves personnel-related matters in a timely manner
- Provides leadership and vision for the professional learning and development of faculty within the school.
- Develops long-range staffing plans that are aligned with program delivery, enrollment, market projections, and anticipated employee transitions; prepares job descriptions; chairs search committees and processes; recommends the appointment of appropriately qualified faculty and staff, and conducts employee evaluations.
- Responsible for all fiscal matters at the school level; however, work inclusively to engage key stakeholders in processes. Projects school needs and secures staff, supplies, equipment, and facilities through thoughtful budget management and accountability.
- Works collaboratively and assume other duties as assigned by the Vice President of Student Learning, Engagement, and Success.
Teaching, Learning, and Student Success
- Fosters an academic environment that produces equitable outcomes for students.
- Seek synergies and serve as a primary leader of guided pathways work at the College.
- Leads department chairs and program heads in the construction of timely class schedules based on student needs and institutional resources including advisement and registration.
- Ensures proper student learning objectives, program strategies and objectives, and feedback mechanisms are in place to support academic excellence and integrity within programs.
- Seek and implement innovative ways to ensure faculty have the necessary tools to be successful as valued members of the college community.
- Teaches 3-6 contact hours per academic year.
- Meets the requirements of the instructor’s job description which includes experimenting with new, innovative teaching techniques and methodologies.
- Works with faculty to ensure that academic quality and integrity remain a part of all programs and courses. Resolves student/faculty-related matters in a timely manner.
Internal and External Partnership Development
- Serve as an active member of the Division of Learning, Student Engagement & Success leadership team
- Strategically and intentionally partner with deans in short-term workforce development areas to create new programs that benefit non-credit and credit students in meeting labor market demands.
- Engage with business and industry partners, and other community stakeholders to foster new academic program ideas that meet the demands of current and future job opportunities.
- Actively represents the division and the college to students, professional organizations, articulation partners, businesses, industries, and other relevant constituencies.
- Participates in college-wide strategic planning activities. Develops, maintains, reviews & evaluates school plans and academic policies. Coordinates with the Office of Planning and Research to produce institutional plans.
