Qualifications

Education Minimum:  Associate’s degree in criminal justice, instructional technology or other public safety related degree.
 
Experience Minimum:  Five (5) years related work experience administering educational training programs in a public safety related field and five years of certified law enforcement certification.  General Instructor Certification through NC Criminal Justice Education Training and Standards Commission.
 
Education Preferred:  Bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice.  
 
Experience Preferred:  Ten (10) years law enforcement officer work related experience including administering educational/training programs.

Position Description

Summary 
This position plans, organizes and coordinates law enforcement in-service training courses. **This is a Part-Time position.**

 

Knowledge & Responsibilities:

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Schedules and coordinates in-service training for Law Enforcement In-Service area
  • Coordinates and maintains all course records and documentation for in-service courses
  • Provides support and direction to part-time instructors
  • Develops and manages the day to day operations of in-service training to include all instructor records, student registrations, rosters and reports.
  • Conducts needs assessments with local law enforcement agencies to ensure training is current and agency needs are being met
  • Collaborates with internal auditors to ensure program compliance with all NCCCS rules and NC Training and Standards rules
  • Assists with the coordination of the JCC Howell Woods Training Facility
  • Reviews instructor lesson plans and other instructional materials for conformance to Commission standards
  • Researches and designs new training programs and updates existing training and documentation
  • Develops and recommends for approval course materials and course syllabi
  • Ensures course deliveries are following Commission procedures and standards, considers advisory guidelines issued by the Commission, and ensures the training offered is safe, effective and within Commission guidelines.
  • Oversees employees who may assist in the planning, development, presentation or administration of courses for the area
  • Participates in the marketing of programs, recruitment of students, and makes presentations to outside stakeholders
  • Schedules classes to meet student needs at all locations, times, and formats
  • Develops and teaches courses as requested
