Minimum Qualifications
MINIMUM EDUCATION QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor's degree from a regionally accredited institution required.
- MINIMUM EXPERIENCE QUALIFICATIONS
- Three years of supervisory experience in a relevant area required.
- Direct experience teaching adults required.
- PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
- Generally works in a traditional climate-controlled office environment and requires the ability to sit for extended periods.
- Some walking, standing, and bending required, and the ability to lift and maneuver items weighing up to 25 pounds.
- Work environment can be stressful at times in dealing with a wide variety of challenges and deadlines.
- In addition to regular office hours, position sometimes requires overtime and/or evening hours.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's degree from a regionally accredited institution preferred.
Position Description
SUMMARY
OPEN UNTIL FILLED - Review of applications will begin 1/4/22
Plan, market, implement, and coordinate the College's Adult Basic Education and High School Equivalency programs. Recruit, train, and supervise full- and part-time staff and instructors throughout Gaston and Lincoln counties. Take responsibility for all documentation required for compliance with state and federal regulations; exercise judgment in applying established policies and procedures.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Plan and coordinate all aspects of program including participating in development of policies and procedures.
- Promote program internally and externally.
- Recruit, train, schedule, and supervise full- and part-time instructors; prepare all documentation required for compliance with College and state regulations.
- Represent the College at professional conferences and workshops.
- With instructors' input, evaluate and order books and materials.
- Monitor policies as they relate to the program, including monitoring and reviewing instructors' contracts, time sheets, and ensuring compliance with College's requirements for staff and instructors.
- Maintain appropriate records documenting student achievement and progress. Maintain records of student assessments, instructor progress reports, and other information relevant to North Carolina Community College's Critical Success Factors.
- Coordinate appropriate training and on-going staff development for instructors consistent with research findings and practices in the field of adult education.
- Develop, monitor, and maintain interagency partnerships within the community. Serve on external agency planning committees and assist external agencies with meeting their educational requirements.
- Audit classes and assure compliance as required by the Internal Audit Plan. Evaluate and respond to audit concerns, and provide follow-up documentation/report.
- Perform other duties as assigned by Director of Life Skills.
