Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in administration or related area, with three years of professional experience, preferably in a community college or public school environment; or any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
Information Technology Requirements: Must be able to operate a computer equipped with such software as Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft PowerPoint, Microsoft Access, SPSS, Microsoft Project specialized decision science software, etc. Able to use Groupwise email and conduct research on the Internet. Operate a variety of specialized equipment such as laser and color printer, computer projection device, fax machine, photocopier, telephone, etc.
Physical Requirements: Must be physically able to operate a variety of automated machines including telephone, computer, copier, calculator, etc. Must be physically able to exert up to ten pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects. Position involves mostly sedentary work, but may require walking or standing for brief periods of time.
Data Conception: Requires the ability to compare and/or judge the readily observable functional, structural, or compositional characteristics (whether similar to or divergent from obvious standards) of data, people, or things.
Interpersonal Communication: Requires the ability to speak to and/or signal to people in order to convey or exchange information. Includes the giving of assignments and instructions to assistants. Includes the receiving of information and instructions from the Assistant Vice President of Academic Affairs.
Language Ability: Requires the ability to read a variety of documents, reports, books, manuals, etc. Requires the ability to prepare documents and reports with the proper format, punctuation, spelling and grammar, etc. Requires the ability to speak with poise, voice control and confidence.
Intelligence: Requires the ability to apply principles of logical or scientific thinking to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions; and to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagrammatic form. Is able to deal with several abstract and concrete variables. Requires the ability to apply principles of rational systems in order to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables.
Verbal Aptitude: Requires the ability to record and deliver information and to follow verbal and written instructions.
Numerical Aptitude: Requires the ability to utilize mathematical formulas; add, subtract, multiply, and divide numbers; utilize decimals; figure percentages; apply algebraic principles; and utilize descriptive and inferential statistics.
Form/Spatial Aptitude: Requires the ability to inspect items for proper length, width and shape.

Position Description
The Career and College Promise Coordinator supports, promotes, and provides administrative oversight in the advising and enrollment of eligible high school students in College Transfer, Career and Technical Education, and Continuing Education dual enrollment courses at Pitt Community College. The duties and responsibilities include student outreach and recruitment; academic and career planning and development; providing direct academic advisement in alignment with student’s high school and/or college graduation plans; registration of high school students in PCC classes; and monitoring academic progress of prospective, new, and returning CCP students. This position also provides individual academic guidance, mentoring, and support to fully maximize the student dual enrollment experience, and to aid in improving student success and retention. The Career and College Promise Coordinator stays up-to-date on program policy changes and disseminates information to the Director of High School Programs, to other CCP staff, PCC personnel, and to all internal and external stakeholders in the local schools and in the community. In addition, this position coordinates and participates in outreach and recruitment efforts; assists the Director with program evaluation and alignment with statewide CCP policies; plans, organizes, and manages new student orientation; serves as an advocate on behalf of CCP students with college faculty and staff; supervises and delegates duties to part-time CCP staff; and manages the CCP office in the absence of the Director.
This position reports to the Director of High School Programs.
Supervisory Responsibility: Supervision and training of one or more part-time staff members

- Serve as a liaison between Pitt Community College and Pitt County Schools, home schools and other private schools.
- Serve as liaison between students, parents, PCS personnel, and Pitt Community College faculty and staff.
- Serve as an advocate for students in academic matters involving faculty.
- Provide support of admissions processes for high school students, including ensuring proper completion of paperwork, review of transcripts and standardized test scores for enrollment eligibility, academic advising for course selection, and registration in PCC courses.
- Coordinate scheduling of onsite academic advising in local high schools each semester.
- Assist with developing programs/classes to be taught on the college campus and at high schools.
- Regularly/closely monitor student academic progress and report concerns to appropriate personnel.
- Send student enrollment and academic progress reports to local schools based on semester schedule.
- Meet with students individually to discuss academic/career goals and educational plans.
- Facilitate connections to PCC resources for high school students (i.e. Counseling Services, Disability Services, Tutorial and Academic Support Services, and Career Services, Admissions, Financial Aid).
- Work with secondary and postsecondary staff to ensure accurate alignment of high school and college credit awarded.
- Plan, organize, and coordinate orientation for all new CCP students each semester (Fall, Spring, Summer).
- Present information session at orientation for all new CCP students each semester (Fall, Spring, Summer).
- Communicate regularly with students, parents, and school personnel utilizing various methods (e.g. email, phone, text, etc.)
- Create and disseminate materials to publicize and market the CCP program to students and parents.
- Publish quarterly newsletter of important information for dissemination to students, parents, and local school personnel.
- Present at high schools for Parent Nights, Curriculum Nights and Open House events.
- Prepare and/or process various records and reports.
- Provide support to Career Coaches in local schools.
- Provide support to PCC programs with local school partnerships (VISIONS, Technical Academy, etc.).
- Work with Director to develop goals and objectives for the CCP office in support of institutional strategic plans.
- Stay knowledgeable of PCC, PCS and NCCCS eligibility requirements and policies and disseminate the information to all internal and external stakeholders.
- Utilize Informer, Colleague/Datatel, Moodle, AVISO, and other technology as needed.
- Coordinate the use of College facilities.
- Assist high schools with developing and implementing procedures for awarding high school credits for college coursework.
- Participate in professional development relevant to position on local, state, and national level.
- Serve on PCC and community committees as needed.
- Supervise and delegate duties to part-time CCP office staff.
- Operate school vehicles and a variety of office equipment including computer, calculator, copy machine, two-way radio, telephone, scanner, etc.
- Use e-mail, computer hardware, general office supplies, first aid kit, clerical supplies, calendars.
- Interact and communicate with various groups and individuals including immediate supervisor, students, faculty, staff and the general public.
- Manage CCP office in the absence of the Director.
