Minimum Qualifications
Required:
- Bachelor's degree from a regionally accredited college or university.
- Over three years' experience in a high-demand, fast-paced office environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior Military experience.
- Experience with advising military/veteran populations in an educational setting.
- Experience with auditing files and compliance standards.
- Experience using student information, data system, (Datatel Colleague) and VA-ONCE system.
Position Description
Part-Time 25 hrs. per week.
9:00 AM - 2:00 PM
The role of the Part-Time Military Liaison is to assist with serving the College's military and veteran students and to be part of the Student Success and Enrollment Management (SSEM). The liaison will be tasked with the recruitment, advisement, retention and support of veteran and military students, in addition to ensuring that VA files meet compliance standards as outlined in the School Certifying Official (SCO) handbook.
Examples of Duties:
Administrative:
- Serve as the point of contact for military and veteran students (including dependents, who are using military benefits to attend college).
- Serve as the point of contact for the College for all military related activities and be available to attend off-campus events.
- Serve as the School Certifying Official (SCO) to certify Veterans Administration (VA) educational benefits.
- Possess knowledge of all curriculum programs and provide academic advising.
- Submit enrollment certifications to the VA in a timely manner. Monitor veteran student registration information and report any changes promptly to the VA.
- Ensure compliance standards for VA files as outlined in the SCO handbook.
- Perform periodic audits of records and registration to ensure accuracy.
- Ensure all required documentation is received by military students using benefits.
- Actively participate in compliance audits performed by the VA and state approving agency.
- Collaborate with the Business Office to reconcile VA student accounts.
- Attend scheduled VA training.
- Update and maintain College website pages related to military and veterans.
- Assist and conduct workshops/seminars on admissions and financial aid/benefit options to students, parents and staff.
- Establish enrollment, retention and completion goals for this population and report data to supervisor and college committees on a yearly basis.
- Attend military resource, educational, or Transition Assistance Program (TAP) meetings to promote the College and programs we offer.
- Maintain an up-to-date listing of College courses and programs (curriculum and continuing education).
- Other student records tasks as assigned.
Recruitment:
- Actively participate in the recruitment of military, veterans and their dependents.
- Build strong local partnerships and relationships with regional military branches and organizations.
- Attend and actively participate in a wide variety of community activities.
- Ensure the implementation of a robust student activities calendar for military and veteran students.
