Minimum Qualifications

Minimum Requirements 

 Bachelor's degree

 Two (2) years' experience managing projects in an IT related discipline

Preferred Qualifications

Preferences

Bachelor's degree in IT related field

PMP or CAPM certification

 Working knowledge of MS Excel, MS PowerPoint, MS Word, and MS Project

Experience working at a Higher Education Institution or in an Adult Learning field

Position Description

The primary purpose of the project management role is to manage IT projects within/ scope, quality, time and cost constraints to deliver business value to the College for single vendor projects with small to medium complexity. 

Responsibilities and Duties (*Essential Functions)

*Defines business requirements, scope, goals, objectives, resources, and success criteria for projects of small to medium complexity

*Responsible for managing changes to project scope, schedule and costs using appropriate verification techniques

*Identifies project deliverables, milestones, required activities and tasks in order to create and manage project schedules

*Provides leadership, motivation, and direction to small/medium project teams throughout the project life cycle to ensure IT projects are completed within budget and on schedule

*Develops and executes plans for communicating scope, deliverables, time and success criteria to all customers and stakeholders through a variety of communication channels

*Prepares and delivers reports, presentations and other documents to provide project status to customers, stakeholders, senior management, team members and others as needed

*Responds to emergency situations as needed, during and after normal business hours, to identify, assess and mitigate critical operational issues.

 Manages project performance and stakeholder expectations throughout the project life cycle to proactively identify risks, mitigation strategies and improvement opportunities

Contributes to the maturation of departmental project management practices and standards

Collaborates with departmental leadership to ensure that project decisions and recommendations are aligned to strategic goals and objectives

Represents ITS by actively participating on internal committees and task forces

Swiftly addresses conflicts to minimize impact to projects and negotiates successful resolution of issues

Develops and manages project plans and appropriately escalates issues as needed

Assists in developing training materials and conducting training sessions as needed to ensure proper use of project deliverables

 Manages sub-projects that are part of a large-complex project or program

Complete an annual applied benchmark project on an individual or group basis

Navigates project constraints to meet project goals and objectives

 Fosters a collaborative environment that encourages cooperation and inspires creative approaches to problem solving

Proven leadership skills and ability to work effectively with college leaders and IT engineering, operations, and support staff
 
Strong analytical, project management and team-oriented interpersonal skills to lead and motivate others

Working knowledge of project management methodologies and tools, such as Microsoft Project, Primavera, etc

 Demonstrated skills in meeting facilitation, presentation creation and delivery

 Proven ability to develop and execute a project resource plan that ensures the resources and skill levels are properly aligned

Ability to develop requests and evaluate proposals for IT-related technology solutions

Knowledge and understanding of current and emerging technologies needed by large institutions and impact on delivery of IT services

 Ability to multi-task and set priorities within tight timelines and high client expectations
