OCCUPATIONAL SUMMARY:
The Director of Community Workforce Readiness supports the development and implementation of strategic initiatives to improve employment readiness and workforce development skills for adults. This position coordinates Human Resource Development/Occupational Extension course activities and programs. The Director oversees the daily operations of the Craven Pamlico Re-Entry Council (CPRC). The Director engages community service organizations and makes presentations to groups and individuals promoting Workforce Development. The Director oversees training and transition programs offered at the Craven Correctional Institution and other correctional facilities in Craven County. A specific focus of the position is working with unemployed, underemployed, and formerly justice-involved adults.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Provides excellent customer service and assistance to internal and external customers through walk-in, telephone and email
- Oversees the administration and quality of Human Resource Development (HRD)/Occupational Extension courses in accordance with the Continuing Education Master Course list
- Serves in a leadership capacity for the Craven Pamlico Re-Entry Council; this includes the management of all Council programs and activities, including budgetary items
- Supervises Craven Pamlico Re-Entry Council (CRPC) employees
- Supervises all courses in the program areas monitoring compliance with local, state and federal regulations, accreditation standards, and audits assuring program compliance with certifying agencies’ guidelines
- Oversees all program operations, course outline preparations, contract preparation, registration, orientation, instruction, grading and evaluation of all courses in the area of responsibility
- Coordinates Human Resource Development (HRD) and Occupational Extension (OE) courses offered at the Craven Correctional Institution and other correctional facilities in Craven County
- Coordinates other courses as assigned by the Dean of Workforce Development or Vice President of Students
- Actively seeks and pursues new courses and opportunities for the Workforce Development Department, whether HRD or Occupational Extension (OE)
- Disseminates communications from the State Re-Entry Council to appropriate community members and the local Re-Entry Council
- Engages community service organizations, local businesses, and speaks to groups and individuals about Workforce Development courses and programs
- Represents Craven CC at public relations events, promotional opportunities, marketing campaigns, business and committee meetings
- Recruits, screens, interviews, hires, orients and manages adjuncts for assigned program areas; monitors and evaluates instructor performance
- Coordinates off-site training experiences and oversees the placement of instructional staff and students at those sites
- Makes required class visits as outlined in the policy for Accountability and Credibility for Workforce Development
- Prepares program reports and monitors budgets for all assigned courses in the program area
- Submits the annual budget proposal to cover assigned programs
- Participates in appropriate committees and task forces as assigned
- Performs other job-related duties and projects in support of the College’s mission, core values and goals
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
