  • At least three (3) years custodial experience is preferred
  • Strong organizational skills with attention to detail and accuracy
  • Ability to work independently but also be a team player

Position Description

The Environmental Services Technician - Custodian performs general custodial duties related to the maintenance and cleaning of assigned buildings and facilities and performs a variety of tasks relative to the assigned area of responsibility.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities

The duties of the Environmental Services Technician include, but are not limited to:

  • Sweep, mop, wax, strip and polish floors; vacuum and shampoo carpets
  • Dust and polish furniture, woodwork, fixtures and equipment
  • Clean desks, tables and counter tops
  • Wash walls, ceilings, woodwork, door panels, windows, sills, blinds and door glass
  • Empty, clean and sanitize waste receptacles in assigned areas
  • Clean and sanitize restroom facilities and fixtures as assigned including sinks, urinals, toilets, mirrors, wall and drinking fountains; replenish restroom supplies as needed
  • Sweep walkways and entrances to buildings and classrooms; pick up debris around building
  • Operate and control high and low speed stripping/buffing machines
  • Set up tables, chairs and equipment in a variety of settings for special events and normal campus activities
  • Identify and report building maintenance needs in assigned buildings and facilities
  • General maintenance duties to include: simple plumbing, carpentry, landscaping and yard maintenance
  • Other duties and responsibilities as assigned

Working Conditions

  • The job may be performed under some temperature extremes
  • Moderate physical effort requiring long periods of standing, walking and periodic lifting of 50 pounds or more
  • Must be able to stretch, stoop, bend and maneuver to facilitate all elements of cleaning the buildings
  • Ability to ascend and descend ladders up to 10 feet
