Under limited supervision, the Program Director of Orthopedic Technology is responsible for all aspects of the program including general instruction, organization, administration, review, planning, development, reporting, and general effectiveness. In addition, this position is responsible for preparing, providing, and updating course content, as well as evaluating students, in a wide variety of Orthopedic Technology program courses. Responsible for organizing, managing, and maintaining the clinical portion of the program to include supervision, assessment, and recruitment.

• Plans, directs, and participates in the instruction of classes for the Orthopedic Technology program both in classroom and clinical settings
• Participates in the development, planning, implementation and administration of the goals and objectives as well as policies and procedures regarding the program
• Maintains detailed records for both classroom and clinical instruction as well as postgraduate employment in alignment with national best standards and NCCCS Office requirements
• Coordinates and facilitates meetings with the program Advisory Committee
• Selects and approves practicum sites
• Serves as the faculty advisor for Orthopedic Technology, Associate in General Education Nursing, and other Allied Health Programs as designated
• Evaluates and ensures that operations are in accordance with the goals and objects of the College, Industry expectations, and student needs
• Establishes and monitors program evaluation systems and procedures
• Assists, coordinates, and participates in the development and administration of the department budget; recommends funds for equipment, materials and supplies; recommends staffing needs and monitors expenditures
• Coordinates and oversees the Orthopedic Technology program efforts to recruit and retain students; assists with program advertising and promotion; develops and submits program publications, publicity, certification results, and other media articles
• Oversees and conducts meetings for Orthopedic Technology faculty
• Participates in the selection, orientation, and evaluation of Orthopedic Technology faculty
• Provides orientation for on-site supervisors
• Provides oversight of the practicum experience, including on-site assessment of student experiences and the quality of learning opportunities; at least once during each term students are assigned to site
• Evaluates student learning and performance
• Supervises extracurricular activities for students
• Oversees and participates in the use and care of the Orthopedic Technology lab and classroom
• Attends required faculty meetings and trainings as assigned by the Division Chair, the Academic Affairs Office, Human Resources, and the College
• Exercises direct supervision of full-time and part-time faculty teaching within the Orthopedic Technology program
• Answers questions and provides information to faculty, staff, students and the general public; responds to and resolves sensitive and complex inquiries relative to the program
• Attends and participates in graduation ceremony
