Minimum Qualifications
- Associate’s degree and 3 years of fitness experience preferable in a collegiate or fitness facility or Bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited institution and 2 years of fitness experience preferably in a collegiate or fitness facility
- Demonstrated experience developing and delivering fitness programs
- Experience with and knowledge of personal and small group training as well as group fitness
- Knowledge of cardio, strength, and fitness equipment
- CPR, AED, and First Aid or ability to obtain certification within 3 months of employment
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited institution in physical education, exercise
- science, or related degree
- 4 years of fitness experience in a collegiate or fitness facility
- Certification(s) with one or more of the following accredited professional certification organizations: ACE, AFAA, ACSM, NCSA, SCCC, NASM, CSCS or similar.
- Higher Education experience

Description:
The Coordinator, Fitness & Wellness is responsible for planning, managing, coordinating, operating, and evaluating the Fitness Center and coordinating intramural programs for the College. This position serves the Davidson and Davie campus. The position reports to the Dean, Student Engagement & Completion.
Essential Job Functions:
- Provide leadership and manage day to day operations for the Davidson and Davie Campus Fitness Center
- Develop, implement, maintain and assess fitness operations based on comprehensive programs for student development and needs of the Davidson-Davie campus community.
- Create and support a culture that promotes overall well-being in collaboration with campus partners / key stakeholders that focuses on all elements of wellness including, but not limited to, stress management, emotional, intellectual, social, environmental, occupational, physical well-being.
- Work collaboratively and cooperatively with the campus community to conduct educational workshops/clinics and special events.
- Administrative responsibilities including: update training materials, operations manuals, and policies and procedures; development of an annual program budget; recommend marketing and promotions strategies; implementing; keeping up with current standard practices in risk management; maintaining after action reports; enhance customer service driven fitness, health, and well-being programs.
- Work collaboratively with groups such as Health Science Programs, Physical Fitness, Office of Accessibility, Counseling, & Health Services, and Student Life to provide and promote healthy and active programs
- Develop, implement, promote and maintain marketing initiatives around program, specialty events, training, website, program calendars and display boards to include but not limited to social media, flyers, posters, building TV monitors, and other formats
- Plan and implement intramural programming
- Ensure appropriate safety measures are observed when patrons use the Fitness Center
- Work with academic leadership to schedule use of the gymnasium and Fitness Center in concert with instructional schedule
- Coordinate and provide facility orientations
- Coordinate offerings of group exercise
- Administer fitness assessment and provide results counseling
- Maintain assessment of equipment and provide schedule of replenishment to the College leadership
- Responsible for additional tasks assigned that support the College mission and initiatives
