Minimum Qualifications

  • Associates Degree in Graphic Design or related field*
    * Must earn the degree prior to August 1st, 2022
  • Industry graphic design work/freelance work
  • Extensive knowledge of current Mac OS and current Adobe Creative Cloud software
  • The ability to thoroughly teach introductory and intermediate levels of graphic design classes.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelors or Masters Degree in Graphic Design
  • Teaching Experience is preferred
  • Experience developing online courses is preferred.
  • Experience with illustration, motion graphics, screen printing, website design, and/or social media advertising is preferred.

Position Description

Rowan-Cabarrus Community College seeks a full-time faculty for the Advertising and Graphic Design Degree to teach Graphic Design courses and assist in the refinement and development of the curriculum. The faculty member will work within the Department of Art & Design, alongside a vibrant visual arts program, to teach advertising and graphic design studio and/or lecture courses as needed.

The faculty member may be required to teach courses on any RCCC campus and online. The faculty member will also be expected to facilitate promoting safety throughout the department, in refining/developing curriculum, SLOs, assessment tools, and other duties as assigned by the Program Chair and/or Lead Faculty.

The faculty member will be expected to fully support departmental initiatives such as NASAD accreditation, grants, Skills USA, etc. All faculty in the Department of Art & Design are expected to fully participate in and support activities outside of the classroom such as student exhibitions, related college events, university campus visits, and also work off-campus within the creative community. These events and initiatives often occur in the evenings and/or on the weekends, and all full-time faculty are required to participate.

The Department of Art & Design is deeply engaged with the community, all faculty are expected to support our community partners.

Applicants must be familiar with and supportive of the community college mission and environment and the A.A.S. in Advertising and Graphic Design.
