Position Description
DEFINITION:
The Academic Success Coach works closely with the Academic Advising Director, the Dean of Enrollment Management, and the Senior Director of North Campus and Off-Campus Sites to ensure the optimal integration of the Title III project's activities with all components of the college
SUPERVISION RECEIVED AND EXERCISED:
- Receives general supervision from the Title III Program Director
Duties & Responsibilities (Essential Functions)
ESSENTIAL AND OTHER IMPORTANT FUNCTIONS STATEMENTS:
Essential and other important responsibilities and duties may include, but are not limited to, the following:
Essential Functions:
- Maintains caseload of students on academic warning and probation; engages in advising and coaching follow-up activities to encourage student persistence and completion.
- Provide information about campus/community resources and college success strategies.
- Determine and eliminate college barriers to student success and satisfaction.
- Responsible for assisting warning and probation students with information about alternatives and possible consequences of academic decisions.
- Contact students that have left the college after experiencing academic difficulty.
- Participates in college committees and task forces related to academic advising, web-registration, etc. and work closely with faculty and academic affairs to develop student-centered processes.
- Implements Title III retention and persistence-based initiatives.
- Collaborates with various areas within and outside of the Student Services to facilitate student success, retention, and persistence.
- Assists with development of goals, objectives, and learning outcomes for the Title III Student Success Center, in support of the college's strategic plan.
- Participates in open houses, new student orientation, and various First Year Experience initiatives
Other Important Functions:
- Perform other related duties and responsibilities as assigned
Qualifications
QUALIFICATIONS:
Knowledge of:
- Knowledge of student development and resources to promote student success.
Ability To:
- Ability to multi-task
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with those contacted in the course of work
- Interpret and apply CFCC goals, objectives, policies, procedures, rules, and regulations
- Maintain effective audio-visual discrimination and perception needed for:

- Operating assigned equipment
- Handling varied tasks simultaneously
- Maintain physical condition appropriate to the performance of assigned duties and responsibilities, which may include the following:

EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING GUIDELINES:
Any combination of experience and training that would likely provide the required knowledge and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to obtain the knowledge and abilities would be:
