Minimum Qualifications
Associate's degree, required. Excellent oral and written communication skills, as well as Microsoft Office skills and experience with digital platforms, required. Must obtain North Carolina Notary Public certification within 120 days of employment at the expense of the institution.
Preferred Qualifications
Three (3) or more years work experience in college financial aid, preferred. Work experience as a Director, Associate Director, or Assistant Director of a college financial aid office, preferred. Prior work experience at a community college, preferred.
Position Description
Assist the Director for Financial Aid Services in the administration and oversight of Financial Aid Services by performing specific fiscal duties and supervising designated office staff who provide assistance to students, in accordance with College guidelines and in compliance with federal, state, and local regulations. Interpret and administer federal, state, and local regulations as they relate to all types of funding through student aid programs (i.e., Pell Grants, SEOG, NCSIG, scholarships, private sponsors, community college grants, child care grants, and the Federal Work-Study program); counsel applicants and students regarding financial aid programs, policies and procedures; and use efficient methods for recording, processing, and preserving data related to financial aid, in accordance with federal, state, College, and other applicable rules. Assist the Director for Financial Aid Services in completing federal, state, and local reports to include, but not limited to, FISAP, Pell Disbursement Report, and Federal Cohort Report. Represent the College and Financial Aid Department in various meetings, seminars, and workshops assigned by the director. This is a daytime position with some scheduled evening work and local travel required.
