Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, or related field and 7-10 years of administration experience. Or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Position Description
This is the third level in the Finance/Accounting series. Incumbents provide leadership to the Finance Division of the Business Office. Responsibilities may include: directing staff, overseeing financial information systems, coordinating & executing external independent audit, external and internal financial reporting, recommendation of accounting and internal control practices to senior leaders, etc.
EXAMPLE OF DUTIES:
- Develops and/or coordinates the preparation of, reviews, verifies, and/or approves journal entries, reports, vouchers, records, ledgers, and other documents and systems to ensure information accuracy and compliance with applicable laws and regulations; makes recommendations of accounting and internal control practices, including those related to budget activities, audits, and other financial information, to senior leaders
- Coordinates and executes external independent audits, and coordinates and monitors office operations; work may involve performing checks, providing approval, and/or resolving issues related to payroll, payments, payment plans, checks, cashier transactions, and other office operations
- Monitors financial information systems and both external and internal financial and/or state reporting; prepares and submits requests and reports to internal and external financial agencies; maintains strong relationship with local financial institutions; completes cash certifications for System Office in Raleigh; manages funds related to tuition, grants, and other payments; and manages, updates, and/or reconciles accounts and other financial systems/information
- Supervises some office staff to include: prioritizing and assigning work; setting work deadlines; monitoring and ensuring adequate staffing levels; conducting performance evaluations; addressing complaints, resolving problems, or instituting changes; ensuring staff are trained; ensuring that employees follow policies, procedures, and approved work methods; maintaining a safe and healthy work environment; and making hiring, termination, and discipline recommendations
- Performs other duties of a similar nature or level.
